Totally agree.

The union desperately wanted this “election” to be via “card check” which is totally open to intimidation.

VW tried the UAW route in their first USA plant in Pennsylvania in the late 70s, it was out of business within 10 years.

The joke is they tried this in 78 in Pennsylvania and it blew chunks.
Must be nobody in the Fatherland exec group old enough to remember?

Yeah, but those rubes didn’t know they could get endless bailouts from American taxpayers!

I have stopped buying union made cars. That means I has also stopped buying American cars. For over 30 years I have owned American made cars, well sort of, each passing year less and less of the car is actually made in America. After the unions going into full support mode for Obama, and the bail out of Government Motors, I will screw unions till the day I die. I purchased my first foreign made car last year, and I got another one last month.

While I want America to succeed, I do not want to see short term socialist success, because that leads to long term tyranny. I value my freedom and liberty over the success of my country, especially of if that short term success benefits a lazy ass union scum that lacks the testicular fortitude to be American and stand on his on feet and make his own way in life. He is just a slave of another kind living a pathetic existence because he lacks the resolve to be a man, an American man.

Hence, I voted no in the poll, but more importantly I have voted twice in the last year with my hard earned money.

Not that I was planning to buy a VW anyway, but if I’m going to buy a foreign car, it won’t be one made by the UAW with management connivance.

I’d bet this move is because it lets the company choose which union. Wouldn’t you rather have to deal with the UAW than SEIU (if you had to deal with a union...but it IS ironic that all these foreign car makers chose to build in the South, yet are facing the same ole the US mfgrs had in Detroit)

nascarnation- I swiped this one from the DUmmies, so BIIIG union push.

SandRat- thank you for the update

to bigheadfred- yeees? Noooo!

gorush- I think so, too. It was skewed before I saw it. I haven’t been back to see what to do next (if ya know what I mean)

doorgunner- don’t blame you. Jeeper here, so mine is made in Mexico anyway. (Hopefully will last me the rest of my life)

Twelve- same here. If I ever own another foreign car, it will probably be an oldie European.

Thank you, dynachrome!

wetgundog- Keep the South union free!

Thanks, Bushbacker!

Chode- I dunno. Are Germans pro-union?

ConservativeinPA- I hear ya. And suddenly, this whole push for illegals makes sense.

EXCH54FE- Thank you for the update! We’re gaining on them. I have to let the pups out & then get the tools out ;-) I guess.

I believe in buying American, but I agree with your reasons for doing otherwise.

If you want good engineering, but far better reliability, and non union, go with Jap cars.

I don’t have as much of a problem with private sector unions as I once did. Now public sector unions where politicians hand them goodies in exchange for votes on taxpayer dime is another issue.

My rationale on the private sector has changed over the years and these are my reasons. CEO managers (not the entrepreneurs that risked their own capital) should be “at will” employees that are fireable at any time by shareholder owners. Instead they get iron clad gold plated labor contracts that reward them for failure and make them fireproof. The guy at Yahoo was let go for incompetence and got $80 mil for 11 months..

In the building trades the unions do require that their members meet at least some proficiency levels that in the end offer a chance to keep society safer. Too many contractors hire illegals and want only bodies even if they know nothing. It may not be perfect but it is better than nothing that exists in 3rd world countries where buildings are falling down regularly.
