What game should I download?
vanity | wage slave

Posted on 02/07/2014 12:42:46 PM PST by Wage Slave

I'm going to be in a hotel room without tv (only cheesy mexican tv via antenna) or internet access for several days. Can't go out sightseeing due to safety reasons. No, I'm not being held captive. Anyway, I have books to read but would like to download a game.

Any suggestions for the old fashioned adventure or mystery games? I'm old....I loved the original DOS adventure game with the trolls and the plovers. I'm female, so not looking for violent games....more the thinking, problem solving type.

Any safe websites out there that won't load my computer down with malware?

That was one of my favorite games back in the day.

Original poster (OP) would probably like games like Kings Quest or Myst or something.

I will 2nd Spider Solitaire. It’s likely already on your computer so no download necessary. It’s very addicting.

Play 2 suites

1 Suit is too easy, 4 Suits is impossible

2 suits is hard enough, maybe if you are a natural you will win 10% of the time, but as a beginner expect maybe 5%

Minesweeper is always fun to, but you have to have a good mouse.

Try ‘Plants and Zombies’ that is if you can take a little nectar and stamens scattered about after the battle.

Free trial to EVE Online.

I'm female, so not looking for violent games....

Never mind. (Although EVE had an all-female pirate corporation for a while, if I recall correctly, its motto was: "Don't forget, you got beaten by a girl. Yarr!")

Try http://www.gog.com/

Lots and lots of DRM-free games. Aside from the good old ultra-violent ones, there are plenty of mystery and puzzle-solving oriented titles. Dirt cheap. Check it out.

“Suggestion: Tropico 4.

You are El Presidente, and you run a banana republic.”

Suggestion: Americo 2014.

You are El Presidente and you transform a once thriving country into a Banana Republic.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

"Well.. you could log on to healthcare.gov and while trying to navigate around it, add bogus information any place you get a chance.

If you mess it up, you win."

Nope, that'll never work...

If she's accessing from Mexico it'll run like clockwork.

;-)

El Presidente running a banana republic? Why does that sound familiar?

Do you have DosBox downloaded? You can find a bunch of the old Dos games for download.

Plus I have emulators for Super NES and Playstation and Game Boy Advance. Lots of websites have games to download.

Legally you can download rhem (the proprietary games) for 24 hours.

I’d also highly recommend EVE Online, but that won’t fly (literally) where she’s going to be.

BTW, we moved our little corp to nullsec (Cobalt Edge) back in October to join the Explicit Alliance.

Got in on the HED-GP and B-R5RB actions, plus a whole bunch of lesser ones.

Can’t even imagine returning to highsec.
