So, what you're saying is, these pukes are even worse than I give them credit for.
I want to say you're wrong.... and I just can't.
iwas looking for "Because they are stupid"
We also want more donations to our political campaigns from big businesses which money would go directly to democrats if we don't play ball and vote for this, no matter what it does to our constituents or the nation.
The answer is not there. They are paid off or back mailed with NSA data.
Think about it.
The Republican base would erupt into a full blown meltdown if the Repukes pushed an amnesty bill through to a vote.
It would also likely result in a shellacking at the hands of the Dems this Fall because of a general mutiny among Republican voters.
In the current political climate, that act of perceived treason would also boost the chances of a third party emerging to seriously challenge the Repubs nationwide.
Not to mention the fact that every Repuke who voted for it, would lose their job in the next election.
There's hardly another thing the Republicans could do to wreak such carnage within their own party, so why would they even think of going there?
Coercion, plain and simple.
Apparently, they had to go all the way to the brink of death to convince their masters that it's a really, really bad idea.

I can’t believe how many people think it’s “compassion toward immigrants.” How naïve.

the detriment of the American people.
The ‘Rats have been completely taken over by the marxists, and the Pubbies are halfway there.
With a few notable exceptions, they legislate and vote in no one’s interest but their own.
