Oklahoma Restaurant Owner Comes Under Fire Because He Doesn't 'Want Gays Around’
New York Daily News ^ | MONDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2014 | Irving DeJohn

Posted on 02/10/2014 12:11:36 PM PST by nickcarraway

Gary James, of Gary’s Chicaros, said he can easily spot a ‘freak’ or ‘f’ A man in a wheelchair claims he was denied service, and the small-town restaurant has been slammed nationwide for its hateful views.

This Oklahoma eatery will certainly leave you with a sour taste in your mouth.

Outspoken Enid, Okla., restaurateur Gary James has come under heavy scrutiny recently for his unsavory language and controversial views surrounding minorities and homosexuals.

Patrons claim that Gary's Chicaros dishes out a side of bigotry with each meal. These shocking revelations became public after a handicapped patron came forward to say he was refused service.

“Now, he tried to find a weak excuse not to let me in with my wheelchair or the weak excuse of having loud people with me,” Matt Gard told KFOR.

But James claims that Gard was denied a hearty steak dinner because of the rowdy company he keeps, not because he is in a wheelchair.

“He created an issue. You only have one time here. You create an issue, you’re out forever,” James claimed.

But as James defended his business practices, he unleashed an unsolicited tirade against the unemployed, “freaks” and “fs.”

“I really don't want gays around,” James told KFOR. “Any man that would compromise his body would compromise anything.”

Inside the restaurant, James proudly displays a Confederate flag.

“I’ve been in business 44 years, I think I can spot a freak or a f,” he added.

The restaurant’s logo says the eatery is where “great whites gather,” and promotes violence against Muslims and minorites.

Gard said that his clientele is “condoning” his views and behavior and views by continuing to patronize the eatery.

James ran for city council in 2009 and was consistent about his anti-gay views even in the spotlight.

“If I discriminate, it's against the people I dislike," James told News9 in 2009. “If you come in here with all the in-your-face and a limp wrist, no I don't really want you in here and my customers damn sure don't want you in here.”

His rather loose definition of homosexual extends to people who wear a hat indoors.

Negative and snarky comments have overrun Gary’s Chicaros’ social media profiles.

On Yelp, hundreds of commenters have unleashed a barrage of one-star ratings to torpedo the restaurant’s reputation.

“I prefer my meals to be smoke & hate free. The owner, Gary James, is an outspoken, loudly so, bigot,” wrote commenter Lynn P. of Fairview, Okla. “I can't believe this guy is still in business!”

Photoshop-savvy commenters have plastered James’ face near male go-go dancers and other racy images. An alternate Facebook account was created to advertise the restaurant as a gay bar.

James’ vile rhetoric isn’t limited to gays, minorities and the disabled. He isn’t too fond of the unemployed, either.

“Well if you work, you own a business, pay your taxes, you’re more than welcome here,” he told KFOR. “If you’re on welfare, stay at home and spend my money there.”

How about:

Oregon Restaurant Owner Comes Under Fire Because He Doesn’t ‘Want Teabaggers Around’

Of course the example #2 would be lauded as GREAT by the MSM....

I’ll bet it’s a great restaurant, if this New York rag is getting so rabid over it.

I’m not making this up, but on election day 2004 I went to a Shell gas station and the clerk - in all seriousness - asked if I would watch the store while he went out and beat up some pro-Bush campaigners who were standing at a nearby street corner. Of course I declined. And just in the past year we’ve had mayors of major cities declare the Chick-Fil-A is not welcome in their towns.

On second thought, you dont have to rob him blind. Just say yes, and as soon as his back was turned, walk away and leave the station.

44 years? Sounds like his clientele doesn't have a problem with his establishment...maybe New Yorkers need to mind their own damn business.

And after 44 years of this stuff you would think people would know by now who was welcome there and who was not.

I think it’s hilarious that some people think that Yelp matters. The odds of anyone who uses Yelp patronizing his place under any circumstances approaches zero.

That being said, I think the sodomites are writing checks they can’t cash. Because they’ve been able to bully some Democrat legislators and judges to pass decrees that enable them, they assume they can coerce everybody else.

Imagine if a bunch of them showed up to protest this place, and a group of Oklahomans proceeded to give them a good thumping with axe handles.

Notice this guy doesn’t refuse service to fags. He just says he doesn’t want them around. I think that’s still allowed, isn’t it? And if his customers make rude remarks and make the bungholers feel uncomfortable, why, that would sure be a shame. I know I wouldn’t fight with any business owner to take my money. Maybe the poofs can find somewhere else to eat ... somewhere they can get a cheap tossed salad ...

Nope, libs gotta bring in the guns.

Why is this a story?

Is anyone being forced to eat at this guy's restaurant? Don't the Media Munchkins realize calling this kind of attention to this fellow will only fatten his practice, and with precisely the kind of customer he prefers?

Are they suggesting some "Direct Action" perhaps fines or a lynching for "hate."

Finding the edge, perhaps without going over it, appears to be a sound tactic in the pursuit of "earned media."

I too can easily spot 'f'. It hangs out between 'e' and 'g' and looks a lot like a 't', except with a limp wrist at the top.

Apparently, this rag is trying to give us a new letter word to fear.

Of course I would concur with his right to associate freely, but I do have to wonder, can you really tell by looking at anyone if they are homosexual just by looking at them? I mean, unless they make it public for the purposes of attracting attention and demanding special, unconstitutional protection of course. Because to be sure, they are not all walking Richard Simmons caricatures.

I do find a problem with restaurants that employ openly gay waiters or anyone else that ia a food handler for that matter. I’m talking about waiters that have the gay hairstyles, tattoeed eyebrows, and are flamboyantly gay. I bring this up because I went to a restaurant awhile back and there was a waiter just like that. There is no way a sane person could not look at them and know. Some of these guys could have AIDs. Hell they might even spit in your food which some gay people have admitted to doing. So WHY in the hell do I have tolerate them ifthey could cause my death by infecting me. The left would cheer some infected ones on to do it just to kill some consevatives they don’t like too. Sorry but they are NOT normal people thatbI feel comfortable with handling my food. And who’s to say they get them to take tests and they come up clean today but next week they get infected. They are a very promiscuous bunch compared to most straight people and they are more unstable and likely to do the types of things I mentioned.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Damn...Talk about a stretch.!
got over the drunken Irishman stereotypes.
got over the drunken Sailor innuendos etc.

Now because I don’t take off my hat immediately upon entering his business he likens ‘me’ to a homosexual...
Almost as great a line as
“The restaurant’s logo says the eatery is where “great whites gather,” and promotes violence against Muslims and minorites.”

While the ‘motto’ may be a bit on the edge, WHERE does it promote violence????

Remember the guy in Philadelphia who posted the sign “Order in English” and almost got run out of town... He was fortunate that he is well known and a ‘landmark’ but it won’t be long until he will be forced to hire someone that speaks EVERY language on the planet...

Then the Cursive Crowd will say he doesn’t cater to them.
