Shaun White finished fourth in the mens snowboarding halfpipe competition, failing to become the first American to three-peat in an event at the Winter Olympics. Swiss snowboarder Iouri Podladtchikov won the gold medal, scoring a 94.75 on his second run to claim top prize. White failed to medal in Tuesdays competition after winning gold at Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010.

Of course I screwed up with the name.
Falling will do that to ya.
so you put “spoiler alert” but the results are in the first line??? thanks a bunch...
btw- why even give a left wing outlet like SI (owned by Time) the oub??
# hits make no difference...Time Warner: ideology counts, not profits...
But you did remove all doubt.
Obviously the guy who won had more vowels.... ;-)

King O is cheering for his goal of U.S. mediocrity. U.S. medal count Day 4: 5th place behind Norway, Canada, Germany and Netherlands.
Canada’s numbers should hold up, but expect the Netherlands & Norway to fall back as their strongest events are largely behind them.
The US excels at the newer Olympic sports — or at least it had until Shaun White failed to medal in snowboarding.
I dislike the hotdog sports. They belong in the Winter X Games. The last thing we need is more “judged events”.
Not crazy about short track — too much like roller derby for speed skaters too small to compete on the big track. But at least that’s a timed event, so I can be persuaded to watch it (some).
But all these new sports crowd out ice hockey. 1980’s Men’s US Hockey continues to be the single biggest thing, from the US perspective, to come out of the Winter Games. We see precious little ice hockey on broadcast TV.
There have been some spectacular wipeouts in that event.
People don’t even know the real name of the event. It’s hashpipe.
Just saw this earlier and it reminded me of what can happen in speed skating;
#4 on the list.

Great find! That is an amazing Olympic story.
How many athletes has Bob Costa infected? Johnny Weir’s flaming pink blazer matches Costa’s infected eyes.
Russian pair skated long program to Jesus Christ Superstar. It was quite good. I'm betting NBC doesn't announce the musical score during prime time tonight.
