The dog caught fire because she ran by a flame while being covered in flea and tick spray.

A South Florida man is recovering from second-degree burns after he tried to save his dog that accidentally caught on fire Tuesday evening, deputies said.

Telma Botcherby, the dog’s owner was treating her dog with flea and tick spray when she then noticed a live tick on the floor and tried to burn it with a lighter, according to a Broward Sheriff’s Office report. The dog became startled and jumped across where Botcherby was trying to burn the tick. The dog then burst into flames, officials said.

Botcherby screamed for her husband, Jess Olivas, who picked up the dog in his arms and jumped into a swimming pool.

Gator Caught After Biting Man on Foot in West Palm Beach Canal Olivas, of Parkland, was then taken to North Broward Hospital and later transferred to Jackson Memorial as a trauma alert for treatment of his second degree burns. Officials said 18 to 24 percent of Olivas’ body was burned including his right arm, left forearm, chest and face.

The dog was burned in her abdomen and inside of her back legs, according to the report.

The family could not afford to take the pet to an emergency clinic at the time of the incident so the dog was taken to Dr. Peter’s Animal Hospital in Coral Springs the next morning, officials said.

What a moron! It’s like the old cure for crab lice using a razor, lighter fluid and an ice pick.

Feel very sorry for the dog, her...not so much.

Where's a cop when you need one?

DOG'S ON FIRE
Words by Tim Hawkins
Sung to the tune of "I'm On Fire" by Bruce Springsteen

Hey little girl
don't you get upset
I got some bad news
better call the vet
oh no
as the flames go higher
Oh-oh-oh the dog's on fire

Yeah we gotta look
on the bright side now
we'll save a lot of money
on Puppy Chow
oh yeah
I'm not a liar
Oh-oh-oh the dog's on fire

You know that I always thought
he was a good little fellow
now run to the store
get a bag of marshmallows

that dog costed me
about a hundred dollars
now all that's left is a ten cent collar
oh no
I'm starting to perspire
Oh-oh-oh the dog's on fire
Oh-oh-oh the dog's on fire
Oh-oh-oh the dog's on fire

Pretty nice trailer park if it has a pool.

If that isn't the pool involved, you are just being 'cute' (or is that misleading?) to try to support your point. It has as much relevance as me posting an image of the pool complex in a water park would have.

Thanks for playing!
