A 10-foot alligator was captured after it bit a man in the foot in a canal in West Palm Beach

A 10-foot alligator was captured after it bit a man in the foot in a canal in West Palm Beach.

The incident happened Monday as the man was conducting maintenance on a pump in a canal at 45th Street and Congress Avenue.

Officials said the gator bit the sewage worker's foot. He was taken to nearby St. Mary's Hospital where he's expected to be alright.

The gator was later caught and was taken to All American Gator Products Inc. in Hollywood, where it will be harvested for its meat, skin and other usable parts.

Officials said the gator had marks on him from fighting with another alligator in the area, and could have thought that the worker was the other gator.

I was scrolling past this and for a split second I swear to God the title looked like “Gates Caught After Biting Man on Foot” to me.

Just curious: How do they know that this is the gator who bit the sewer guy?

I’ve been to Palm Beach plenty of times.

Never occurred to me gators were anywhere near.there.

I’ve seen people with goiters but, never gators.

I’ll be on the lookout when I go to anoarty there inIIJanuary

It’s a way of life down here - assume all fresh water has gators. Especially the canals - they’re all over the place.
