At least seven women in four different states have accused former NFL football player Darren Sharper of drugging and sexually assaulting them, according to court documents filed in Los Angeles on Friday.

At least three other women and one man reported being drugged, according to records. Three of the alleged sexual assaults occurred on two consecutive nights in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Los Angeles County prosecutors charged Sharper on Friday with two counts of rape and five other drug charges in connection with two incidents in October and January. He has not been charged in cases in Las Vegas, New Orleans and Tempe, Ariz.

after reading the article, I have to say that women put themselves in a very bad light when they go off with a strange man and drink "shots"....

its hard to prosecute these crimes when the victims virtually lay themselves open to assault....

but I'm just an old fogey I guess...

Perhaps he can blame concussion-syndrome and sue the NFL.

Is that the next so called frontier? I sure hope not. Its never a good idea to see everything from a freudian perspective or as yet another way toward ego gratification.

So is this a severe problem with our athletic culture? I have heard that claim from conservatives as well as liberals. That is, that the culture of sports at the elite level, particularly the more overly aggressive sports - football and boxing and so on - encourages wanton violence and disregard for the rights of others and athletes have a tendency to take it with them outside the sports arena. And that is why so many pro boxers, football stars and a fair number of basketball and baseball stars get these convictions for such vile crimes. I’ve heard Americans from all political stripes argue that this is proof that the NFL, college football and even high school, not to mention pro boxing, WWE, MMA,baseball and basketball are all strictly negative influences on our youth.

Go ahead and try to argue that on sites like this one: jezebel.com. You will get buried alive in accusations of being part of a so called “rape culture” and being as guilty of sexual assault as Darren Sharper himself.

Ban all pro sports. Just the modern version of bread and circuses from Roman times. Now we got food stamps and steroid using NFL players as the gladiators. Got to keep the great unwashed distracted. Nothing new under the sun.

One man? Oh, duuuude!!!

So, Mr. Sharper, would you tolerate showering with a open gay teammate?

Actually, Dave Meggett is a more appropriate choice.

He's a convicted serial rapist. You can read the story here ( It's a fascinating read ) and it sounds like Sharper was copy-catting Meggett.

Stupid is as stupid does - IMO, the rapist should be punished severely and the "victim" should receive a "stupid fine". Unless, of course it turns out to be a false accusation in which case the accuser should be shot.
