Have you ever pulled up to a gas station and the car next to you has the radio booming away?

And you’re saying they have a right to crank up the music as loud as they want?

People do lots of things they shouldn’t, but do anyway. It’s best to leave it alone unless it is life or death. Typical encounters like these are usually no more than a couple of minutes out of your day. Why ruin your whole day, and possibly your life, over these unfortunate couple of minutes?

Yes. And also on the road at stop lights. And it is often music I don’t really like. Sometimes it’s music I do like.

And yes, within limits, I think people have a right to turn up their music as much as they want. There are probably noise ordinances, and you can always call the cops to have them check if someone is violating the noise ordinance for the time and place. I doubt there are too many people who know what the actual legal decibel level is, or could tell if someone was violating that limit.

And who cares, really? You are at the pump for 5 minutes, and unless the music is so loud your ears are bleeding, it is just one of those things. The world does not exist to make me happy. Sometimes other people get to be happy.

Loud music in a public place is annoying as hell. There should be noise ordinances and they should be enforced. But that’s a ticket, it doesn’t mean you shoot them.
