Welcome to the XXII Winter games, where temperatures reach a balmy 64 degrees Fahrenheit, athletes wear sleeveless uniforms, and Olympians practice at nighttime when the snow can finally stiffen up.

Meanwhile, the polar vortex continues to swirl through regions used to bright sunshine and blue skies. Check out these surprising cities that are actually colder this week than Sochi, Russia.

The average winter temps in Sochi are in the 40s and 50s.

Should have given the games to Pyeongchang this year. Very cold and snowy this week.

The Winter Olympics are like an anti-Al Gore. Whenever Gore goes somewhere to talk about global warming the temperature drops by 20°. When the Winter Olympics show up temperatures shoot up and the snow stops falling.

At Beech Mountain, in Banner Elk, North Carolina - Elevation 5,6oo ft. it is 8 degrees on the slope.....base of 92”....no crowds.....come on down to Dixie and catch a few!

Cute, but wrong. Sochi is always this temperature. It's subtropical.
