To me the greatest prayer there is for living a life as close to God as possible, in fact for the whole of humanity is the prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi.

Its a beautiful prayer and I have a copy of it in front of me from a booklet given to me by a recent visitor to the Papal Basilica of St. Francis.
