Louisiana keeps hold on Nation's Worst Drivers [2/16/2014

Ville Plate Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash

Four Dead Following Bus Crash

Louisiana now has two fewer drivers. One was driving an SUV (not wearing selt belts) when the SUV had a blowout. I imagine there was improper care of the tires of the SUV and excessive speed involved. One occupant of the SUV was wearing a seat belt and survived. Four other people in the SUV who were not wearing seat belts died.

This was followed by a motorcycle hitting a tree on Sunday. The rider/driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet.

Probably the worst part of this was this was only in South Central Louisiana and did not include all the accidents for the weekend in the state.

With people coming in from out-of-state for Mardi Gras, they should be aware that Mardi Gras in Louisiana is a time for drunk driving and doing stupid things.

But with Ray Nagin following William Jefferson to jail, Louisiana's politicans set a bad example...

Pardon the vanity, but Louisiana needs to change who can drive and get rid of the stupidity on the roads.

In the case of the SUV accident, a bus load of high school players suffered injuries, but at least the the SUV driver did not kill anybody on the school bus.

The school bus driver is credited with responding well in that situation.

After observing Shelby Stanga on “Ax Men”, this comes as no surprise!

If you see a guy in Lousiana driving and his turn signal is on, you can be assured that it was like that when he bought the car.

That is the bizarro world version of the Iowa town I work in. There, turn signals are simply the mysterious lever that the people down at the dealership never explained and no one in the family would use if they had.

Everybody (blacks and trailer trash) is texting on Obama phones. The average driver hasn’t seen the road in 7 seconds...8 seconds...9 seconds...

ridiculous

i drive in new orleans. the out of state drivers are much more aggressive and idiotic than the Louisiana drivers. good going on helping to demonize the South. compare the drivers from Boston and New york to southern states there is no comparison just as in our politics . we in the South are for freedom and small government they are for big government /socialism and they believe in global warming

compare the drivers from Boston and New york

In New York, you know the driver is going to cut you off and can plan accordingly. In Boston, the drivers are just random. Boston, IMHO, is the most dangerous place to drive. South Florida is a close second.

My Louisiana French speaking grandfather, (God rest his soul), once bought a new car. The first thing he did was take a knife and cut out all the seatbelts.

We have had a huge influx of people from out of state in North Dakota. It was rumored the Fire/EMS people wanted the legislature to let them keep their out-of state tags on the condition they put them on upside down so the police didn't get a crick in their neck writing the tag number down at the accident scene.

Most have successfully adapted to real winter driving or moved on...

I must also note, that if you are going very fast at all, a helmet is a puny defense against hitting a tree full-on on a motorcycle, and only succeeds in transferring the force to the spine more efficiently, provided the helmet doesn’t split.

We have some lousy drivers but I suggest you drive in Boston to get a true feel for idiots.
I lived in New Orleans for 50 years and had to deal with traffic and the court system. But for just plain crappy driving Boston takes the cake for me.

In this case, the motorcyclist was ejected and did not necessarily hit the tree. So he might have survived.

It would seem if this motorcyclist was going extremely fast, he would have flipped the bike when he crossed the center line and hit the tree.

But one would have to have access to the accident details to know if a motorcycle helmet would have made a difference.
