Jesus Would Not Support Modern Day Socialism

It has been the aim of the Democrat party since they lost the Presidential election in 2004 to subvert the Christian doctrine with the claim that Jesus was a Socialist. Their goal is to convince Christians that their Social agenda is morally equivalent with the teachings and life of Jesus Christ. They even went so far as to create handbooks to be distributing to pastors of churches that will show them how to use various Bible verses to promote what they call "Christian Socialism." Taking this into consideration, it shouldn't surprise anyone that many Christians across America were fooled into voting for Obama in 2008.

Add that to the vast amount of Americans who have a limited knowledge of history and hardly no Biblical knowledge, it is not surprising that many have fallen for the misinformation on what Jesus taught (and for whom the teachings were given). These Biblical revisionists have become especially adept at cherry picking Scripture to suit their agenda. Hence, many have come to misunderstand the gospel of Christ by equating it with modern day Socialism.

My first point of contention with the idea that Christ was a socialist, is His teachings and the example of His life. Throughout the time that Christ lived with His disciples, He never worked. Instead he was dependent upon the charity and good hearts of those who surrounded Him. Now that is not to say Jesus was lazy or a bum either. Jesus was always about His Fathers business, and that business was the salvation of mankind. You will find nowhere in the Scriptures, Jesus telling His followers to rely upon those who are not willing to hear the gospel or share what they have. If the people refused to hear the gospel or be charitable with them. Jesus told His disciples, "And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!" (Matthew chapter 10:14-15

I must emphasize that all of the lessons Jesus taught were for those who followed Him, or would listen to His teachings. When a person asked for healing or for forgiveness, Jesus always told them that their sins were forgiven and to go and sin no more. As for money, there was only one time He mentioned the wealth of an individual and that was because that individual treasured his wealth over God. Jesus used the incident as a lesson to tell His disciples that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to get into heaven. Not impossible, but more difficult. He tells us elsewhere that where your treasure is there too is where your heart will be. (Matthew 6:21)

Jesus also taught that we should not let our charitable work be publicly known. (Matthew 6:1-4) Those who love to brag about all the good they have done for others through the Social programs of the government would not be true followers of Jesus or his teachings.

When Jesus did finally have His big chance to influence the government and it's rulers, he did not broach the.......

There are a lot of “Red Christians” that are trying to make Obama out to be a Christian and thus his Socialist beliefs, but regardless of the noise they make about doing what Jesus taught, they are just a bunch of clanging cymbals, and their claims have no basis in Biblical Scripture. spout has no truth in it whatsoever.

Christianity and socialism are not the same thing.
Christ sacrificed himself on the cross he did not sacrifice others on the cross for other or for himself

Christianity is about personal self sacrifice for other..no government is needed to do that

Socialism is sacrificing others for other or for your self.

Socialism is Pontius Pilate and the Sanhedrin claiming righteousness for sacrificing Christ

Thanks,

I am off to work, but I bookmarked it so I can watch it when I get there.

After a few moments though I can see I will like it.

Thanks again.

Many Socialists distort the Workers in the Vineyard parable to try and make their case.

That is about forgiveness and acceptance into Heaven for those who come to accept Christ late in life. Not about earthly economics.

"Even the elite would be deceived if it were possible."
Those who read the Bible and understand it know the difference between scripture and the doctrines of demons that do nothing but tickle the ears, offer a humanist salvation, and promise the manna of immediate self gratification.
The Christian elites can discern the difference between left wing human worship and the Omnipotence or The Great I Am.

One thing that stands out, from the Bible, is that God expects everybody to earn their way including those who need charity. For example, when God commanded that landowners not collect all the possible grain, but to leave some in the field for the poor to collect, it was expected that the poor would go into the field themselves to collect it, not go to the priests and get an urn.

Jesus, the God of Israel in the OT, is generally against theft, abuse of power, corruption, lying, and immorality. Other than that, he took no political positions.

True Jesus did not take political sides, but Socialism is a way of life. Just look at the way Socialists control every aspect of ones life. To them, it is a religion, Just like Islam is both a religion and a way of life.

Now, Christianity is also a way of life, but it is voluntary, no one is forced to be a Christian, whereas under Islam, Socialism, Fascism, communism, and every other authoritarian government the citizens are forced to adhere to the rules under punishment of penalty up to and including prison.

We were not idle when we were with you, 8nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. 10For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”

11We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. 13And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

So true, all authoritarian governments force the people to worship them.

Christ never forces anyone to worship Him, it’s all voluntary, because God is not a cosmic rapist who forces His love upon unwilling subjects.

Of course He wouldn’t, and doesn’t.

Leftists are notoriously uncharitable, so socialism is their way of forcing themselves to spend money on somebody other than themselves. And so they won’t feel cheated, they want everybody else to give to their causes too.

The problem with that is it’s no longer charity when such “giving” is done on pain of governmental guns and jails. And no person of conscience wants to give to depraved leftist “charities” anyway.

Jesus NEVER said, “Thou shalt love the government above all else, including your family or the Lord your God.”

...although Pelosi and “reverend Wright” might think that He did.
