Posted on 02/18/2014 3:03:34 PM PST by OneVike
Forgive an old man for wanting to show off my granddaughter. My daughter sent me a link to a video she took of Grace auditioning. She is 11, and she is auditioning for the Summer Intensive 2014. Follow the link below, and please make a grandfather proud and leave a sweet comment for her Mom to read to her. My Daughters name is Tanya
OneVikes Granddaughter Dancing (YouTube)
She is so sweet and beautiful...everything a little girl should be.
God’s precious innocent.
Check out this Youtube video of my granddaughter Auditioning for a studio I guess. Her name is Grace and she is 11.
Thank you she is isn’t she. I’m gushing.
Very graceful...Very pretty little lady...You have every right to be so proud...Best wishes and best of luck for her future....
My twin 10 year old grandsons each killed their first deer this season...I also am proud of them...*G*
Cool. Good eating
Ah, thanks for sharing, it was beautiful.
Thanks for posting - she is beautiful!
Good for them!
I trust we won’t see them in a ballet dancing video very soon—unless of course they show signs of being able to emulate Barishnykov (sp?)
She’s very talented, OneVike! I love ballet, and she is very, very good. She’s also beautiful. I can well understand how proud you must be. :)
If she’s serious about dancing, please make sure she gets a very good teacher who can help her get into the professional world. Professional dancing is not like Hollywood - it is a very disciplined art with no time for fooling around or drug taking or the rest of cultural rot.. Her arms work looks very pretty to me but I’m not expert.
good luck to your granddaughter! I have a daughter who is a dancer. Which program is she applying to? I wish her well. If she doesn’t make it tell her to keep trying and just keep dancing.
She is not only beautiful, she has good form and is so graceful.
I predict she will go far with ballet.
(It’s your duty to brag on your grandkids BTW)
Thank you. Did you leave a comment on the video for her?
She has good lines and moves *forward*.. a sign of success to come.
Thanks folks...I only mentioned it really to OneVike....
This thread is about his beautiful and talented grandaughter though...
I really appreciate y’all referring to my grandboys but lets keep this for Grace...*VBS*
She did make into the school.
6 hours of ballet each week, 1.5 hours en Pointe
1.5 hours of Contemporary
1.5 hours of Jazz
1.5 hours of Tap
1.5 hours of Hip Hop
1.5 hours of Leaps and Turns
Dancer at Rise Dance Company, Round Rock, Texas
Thank you for the ping.
Your granddaughter is lovely and poised. She has plenty of talent and appeal. She is sure to do well.
Thanks, I am such a proud GP
Haha no wonder you are gushing old fella - she is lovely and graceful. My wife can’t wait to have grandchildren and when I see this I understand why - God bless ya and your sweet granddaughter!
I’ve never done that. I don’t know how. Do I have to join?
Yes. She also has great extension.
Bravo! Very graceful and talented! And very well turned-out!
She also keeps the eye captivated on her face... so many dancers get caught up in form they forget the audience yearns to see the emotions in their faces as they dance the story.
I for one would not sign up for Google+ spynet which is required to comment. Perhaps that is why few will comment on YouTube.
Do you have a local ballet company? My son took classes at the Louisville Ballet and did many ballets there as a child. My daughter went to the Youth Performing Arts school here, and was able to get a scholarship for college. Good luck to your granddaughter.
Oh, I really appreciated that! Splendid, beautiful, “grace-ful.” And so much discipline. My high school friend, now 64, succeeded in dance and still *today* dances, and it shows. :) Keep up the great work, Grace!
Yes, exactly right. She also has very graceful hand and arm movements. That is instinctive, I believe. I see great potential here.
They live in Austin TX, I live in Chico Ca, but the audition was to be accepted by the Dancer at Rise Dance Company, in Round Rock, Texas and she was accepted.
Thanks, I hope she keeps itn up. I am glad to hear all the good comments. I know nothing about ballet
She’s the grand daughter that anyone would be proud to have. You Sir are a lucky man.
I am so proud of her. I can tell you she does not get those moves from my side of the family. I come from a family of tin men, and the older I get the more oil I need to keep from stiffening up completely...LOL
You have reason to be proud...
Another Grandpa’s approval......
Thanks Dean. She has a younger sister that also dances. Though right now she doesn’t seem to have the same knack, but I am only going of videos I get to see. They are in TX, and me being in N ca, makes it difficult to see them.
Beautiful. She has wonderful balance....and very graceful ;) You have every right to be so proud of her. She’s adorable!
Thanks Janer.... :)
Can’t wait to see her en pointe work. But you have to go slow with that at her age. Lots of muscle work before toe work.
Lotta folks say a dancer won’t be exceptional unless she’s dancing by two years old, but I don’t believe that. Here is a young lady who is enjoying what she’s doing, you can tell it has never been forced drudgery for her, it in fact animates her.
What do you mean by en pointe?
A: I was nine years old when I got my first pair of pointe shoes, which is extremely young. I was in a dance class with girls that were a year or two older than me but it was still pretty young to be dancing en pointe.
Thanks. I think I really need to learn the lingo since it looks like Grace may be doing this a lot longer than I originally thought.
I remember thinking it was just a phase she was going through like boys do in sports, but she seems to really serious, and that is something you don’t know until they have been doing for awhile. Well, she is 11, so I thinks it’s a serious thing with her.
Must excellent my friend :)
What a doll!
Of course neither you nor I were ever that age.
We were born old and crotchety ;)
Thanks for sharing. She is beautiful.
Grace is aptly named. Beautiful child; lovely dancer. All God’s best to her and her loving family.
You’re a lucky man. :)
Ballet is very hard on the body. Starting too young may not be a good thing.
