Eagan: Marty’s advice unfair to women
Boston Herald ^ | February 19, 2014 | Margery Eagan

After an attack on a woman in the North End, said Mayor Marty Walsh, “I’d just ask women — if you’re walking, you know, walk in pairs, don’t walk around alone, particularly at night.”

I read this advice, well-meaning and well-intentioned, no doubt. It made me nuts.

Apparently, this writer never notices the good that males have accomplished. I assume she is anti-abortion since her position against violence must obviously include such behavior against babies.

Better yet, walk with a couple of good friends. Mine are named Strum and Ruger. But I hear Smith & Wesson make great escorts as well.

Having come of age in the urban jungle of NYC in the 60s & 70s, the mayor gave pretty good advice: walk in pairs or in a group of people when leaving parties. Good advice for men too. Apparently, the author never heard of Jesse Jackson’s famous statement about having someone following him one night, turning around, and relieved to find it was not a black youth. Men live by the same restrictions as women in urban jungles.

Lemme see...Ms. Boston Herald, who exactly did you vote for every election over and over. Now, the people who promote the violence you’re complaining about are oh so compassionate, so I guess you just have to STFU! Embrace the suck and enjoy the knock out game!

From what I can gather, the columnist seems to be a one-trick pony or better suited by definition as a limousine liberal. Hatred comes in different forms. Violence against any innocent person is appalling whether the elderly, a female, a male or whoever. Too bad this writer can't take her prejudices and attitudes and form it into a positive. Perhaps she is lacking guidance of some form but she should write about how male firefighters risk their lives to save both genders. I doubt she will. Probably cashing a nice paycheck to write college-level material.

It’s only Margery Eagan. Her column in the Herald fills space like graffiti on a wall.

I gave similar advice to some women on DU once, and you cannot belive the vitriol that was heaped on my head.

It’s like they would rather be raped than take commonsense step to minimize the possibility. It’s like that if you don’t agree that women can do anything without exposing themselves to danger, you are no better than a rapist, yourself.

In a perfect world, maybe that would be so. Let’s even concede that the world actually can be perfected as liberals so fervently wish.

That still ain/t the way it is today.

The 2016 election, if a Warren/H. Clinton type is nominated by the Dems, is going to focus on how males are overwhelmingly violent especially against women. Abortions will be called “a choice,” however.

Of course Marty has an armed BPD officer guarding him 24/7/365 while these poor women can even carry mace legally.
