Today, the 2014 inductees to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were announced. Among those being inducted were KISS, Hall & Oates, Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, and Linda Ronstadt.
However, one inductee just ruined the whole thing for me: Cat Stevens, or...as he prefers to be known now...Yusef Islam.
How could the RRHOF make such a grievous error? Do they not know that the evil cult that he supports who have them all executed for the very thing that they personify?
It’s a Wild World.
Back before he converted he had a really tight band. He eschewed his successful career for Islam...bad choice IMHO, but he music prior to that was very good.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has - like The Nobel Peace Prize and other awards organizations - Jumped the Shark.
There are no longer relevant and credible.
Cat Stevens was not a rock artist. His created pop music.
Even if he was still Cat Stevens, he wouldn’t belong.
The only one on that list that is truly deserving is Nirvana.
The hall is no different than the Grammys or Oscars. Just a venue to push PC. Nothing legit about it.
The maniacal murdering moslems are gonna freak.
Probably 3/4 of the votes Stevens got were from members that are unable to name more than two of his songs.
I can not stand the treacly Cat Stevens.
When did they ever play a rock-n-roll song?
Nirvana...maybe someday. All they really did is stem in after hair metal became a parody. And Kobain grabbed the James Dean mantle for his generation via shotgun.
Kiss? Definitely based on historical impact and album sales. Hall and Oates? Defined white soul.
Deep Purple overlooked again the RRHOF is a bad joke!
Why isn’t Journey in there?
I thought he was on a watch list. No US entry. Maybe BHO can accept for him. BHO considers himself a “cool cat”...
Here's something to make you feel old. The baby on the Nevermind cover, Spencer Elden, is now old enough to buy alcohol.
yes! Hall and Oates! :)
After 9/11, he said:
I wish to express my heartfelt horror at the indiscriminate terrorist attacks committed against innocent people of the United States yesterday. While it is still not clear who carried out the attack, it must be stated that no right-thinking follower of Islam could possibly condone such an action. The Qur'an equates the murder of one innocent person with the murder of the whole of humanity. We pray for the families of all those who lost their lives in this unthinkable act of violence as well as all those injured; I hope to reflect the feelings of all Muslims and people around the world whose sympathies go out to the victims of this sorrowful moment.
I wouldn't have voted to induct him into the RRHOF.
