In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

misoneism \ mis-oh-NEE-iz-uhm, mahy-soh- \ , noun
hatred or dislike of what is new or represents change.

Example sentences:
But it is necessary to note that hereditary anomaly, if it provokes an anomaly in the moral sense, also suppresses misoneism, the horror of novelty which is almost the general rule of humanity.
-- Joseph Conrad, The Secret Agent, 1907

...he saw he was the only one to stand ready for the new thing, because the others were all exhibiting symptoms of misoneism.
-- Brian Aldiss, Brian Aldiss, 1967

Etymology:
Misoneism comes from the Greek miso- + neos meaning "hatred" and "new."

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

When his arrow flew over the buffalo’s back and hit the tree behind the adobe Spanish church, the Indian complained, “Well, I gotta admission Ah a Missabision again!”

nounhatred or dislike of what is new or represents change.

Love it. I've always hated nouns! They're such smarty-pants!

It’s not misoneism that causes us to dislike obamacare — it’s pure practicality.

Good, but doesn’t mention if Ukraine is getting its natural gas from Russia. Which I believe it is. That is a factor in the Russian blackmail.

Maybe they should split in half. Certainly seems to be fairly geographically divided.

Laugh all you want, but it seems better to me than having a civil war in order to determine which half gets to force its will on the other.

Plus it would be a great experiment to see if the EU or the Russians can build a better economic “market.”

And they could build a big wall down the middle for tourism purposes.
