No matter. I was referring to the image.
“This is a cop-hating website.”
I guess the converse of that is you are a tyranny loving poster?
Memo to Self: When in New Mexico remember that the police are more dangerous than the criminals!
Reduced training reduces redundancy? Who is this idiot at the police academy? The only training new cops seem to be getting is “shoot first and say you were threatened later.”
See post 38.
And don’t try and make things personal against me or anyone else who is simply making an unbiased observation
This video was taken of a SWAT team in Tucson Arizona. Does it make you A) trust the police, or B) worried?

‘I neither defend or deny that Free Republic is a cop hating website.’
Now you’re lying.
OK, mind reader.
Do I believe Free Republic IS a cop hating website.
or
Do I believe Free Republic IS NOT a cop hating website.
“....one officer explaining that he enlarged photos of his own kids to use as targets so that he would not be caught off guard....”
There is something very demented about that.
There are good cops and there are bad cops. Not all are good and not all are bad. Always has been that way. On a side note, this site was dedicated to discussing politics not good cop bad cop.
Talking is great if you can reason with a person. But it always helps the reasoning process if the person is aware that if they resort to violence it is not going to work out well for them.
Certainly women are good at reasoning with men, but what about when they encounter an unreasonable man?
Which is usually the situation when police assistance is requested.
Speaking for myself here, I grew up in California dealing with police and social workers breaking into the house at all hours of the night. They don't need warrants to do that. Then because the cops knew me and decided that since my mother was on meth so was I they would stop me and search me whenever they saw me.
Then I got married and we moved to Wyoming. The cops here are polite and courteous and they can be VERY helpful. For instance, when two armed California Franchise Tax Board agents showed up on our property in Wyoming to demand that we prove that we lived in Wyoming we called the Park County Sheriff's Department and they not only told the FTB guys to "f*** off" they told them that if they showed up on our property again we could shoot them as trespassers.
So am I a cop hater? No, I don't hate people who enforce the law. I do hate people who wear badges and who think they get to make up the law as they go along. They're just thugs with badges, an armed gang.
I'd like to think that Judge Dredd is just fictional but anymore it seems too many people with badges are bent on making Dredd look tame.
There's an old saying that a 'conservative is a liberal who got mugged' and I'm thinking you're just one false arrest or police beating away from seeing things the same way I do.
Thank you Meagan for that story. Sounds like you cleaned up your life since your California days.
A month or so ago when I said what I’m saying today; Free Republic is a cop hating website and I neither deny or defend that fact, I got push back. And same thing today.
One moron just called me a liar. Am I lying that is IS? Or am I lying that it ISN’T?
Apparently she doesn’t know. She has not answered me. But she knows I’m a liar.
Hoo Boy.

Pervasive excessive use of force by law enforcement is a political issue.
The cops work for us. This is our country and our government. We control it, it does not control us.
That’s why these stories are posted and discussed. Our government and our paid enforcers are out of control and need to be put back in their place.
I guess I should clarify that I don’t hate people with badges who enforce the law. However, I LOATHE people with badges who BREAK the law and then get away with it because the other people with badges won’t enforce the law when one of their own breaks it.
I ask: Of the police who mistakenly shot up trucks all over Los Angeles during the Dorner affair, how many of them were even suspended without pay for the attempted murder of law abiding citizens? (It’s a trick question).
I also ask: Had they not been cops what would have happened to them for what they did?
And then I ask: Why are they above the law they enforce on others?
It seems that I am not alone in asking these questions on Free Republic and it does not make me a ‘cop hater’ because I point out things that cops really do and I point out the fact that, all too often, other cops do nothing when confronted by the presence of criminals in their ranks.
I love liberty and I hate all of the enemies of liberty.
I value my liberty because I’ve been deprived of it more times than I can count.
I also fear for my children if they ever have to deal with the militarized police that seem to be dominating the police departments of this nation.
What else to say but I support FR because FR supports liberty. If cops support liberty then I expect FR to support cops. If some cops oppose liberty then I expect FR to oppose those cops.
Does that make sense?
just what we need/s
There is nothing wrong in pointing out bad behavior by cops. Shooting at a fleeing van is bad behavior. It is rarely appropriate to shoot at cars.
That IS a political issue. The behavior of the police has always been the responsibility of the politicians. It is a government function, and our politicians need to answer for how the cops act.
I’m in the county where the SWAT team fired over 70 shots at the guy who had not been found guilty of any crime. Our Palin-hating county sheriff is a Democrat tool who has been sheriff since 1980. He is no friend to freedom.
Hey, asshole -- the lives of officers, while precious and not to be thrown away, are NOT to be saved at the cost of increased fatalities among innocent civilians!!!!! If you don't like the job on those terms, get one that you're more suited to. Asshole. Oxygen thief.
Sounds like time to move to Wyoming!
