A train going 70 mph closes on you very quickly.

Railway safety is a very big issue, even a federal one. Having been through the required training on an annual basis for many of the rail systems, the word near does not describe the defined limits without railway safety personnel on site. I know that CSX is one of the most ardent enforcers of the rules.
From what I can gather from the report is the crew neglected the well defined limits as it mentions nothing about any CSX railway officials who would have known about the “surprise” train because they always are in radio contact with dispatch.

A train going 70 mph closes on you very quickly. And it's funny how sometimes a train coming fast can be nearly silent, so you really have no warning.

I am so sorry to hear about this. Unclaimed Freight has made several films and their “hey let’s put on a show” attitude is refreshing but I can see this happening because of it. I met those folks recently when their last film CBGB was premiering, and I love three of their films that not coincidentally star my favorite actor.

Why would anybody do a “biopic” on the least talented member of that band?

Greg Allman wrote most of the hits for the Allman Brothers and The Greg Allman Band.
The guy was a major dirt bag but far from over rated as a musician.

You are exactly right. The firm I work for has done renovations to depots along the MoPac tracks and the safety personnel had to be there on site when construction came within so many feet of the tracks.

Even if the film crew did NOT have permission to be on the tracks, my guess is CSX or their insurance carrier will be out several million dollars here.
In our Just-us System, Hollywood is favored over evil railroad companies. Plus the young lady and the injured crew members are almost locals, being from the Atlanta area.
Slam dunk against CSX
