Cuts are on the table next year for Medicare Advantage plans, the Obama administration says. The politically dicey move affecting a private insurance alternative highly popular with seniors immediately touched off an election-year fight.

Hell hath no fury like senior citizens who can’t get their Medicare. The Dems will be quaking in their boots, should these cuts go through before the elections. So look for the King to push it off till Jan. 2015.

Medicare that they paid for all their working life through mandatory payroll witholding.
Not to worry, now that he has successfully funded Obamacare, Mitch McConnell is work hard to “fix” it. At least his latest ad says he is opposed to it and wants to fix it.
It is Bush’s fault and Obama will fix it by executive order.

I'm not being hypocritical. I only have Part A. If someone wants something like Parts B and D, private sector insurance companies should be in charge of that.
This is the perfect opportunity for the GOP to pick up the senior vote.
In fact, if the GOP promised no cuts to Medicare and Medicare Advantage programs, and/or to restore any that have been made, we could turn the tables on the democrats.
Another option, is to promise to review the inflation rates for the last 20 years and to make back payments to seniors if the inflation rates have been undereported.
The GOP would have seniors voting for them in droves if they did these two things.
What the GOP needs to do is come up with a jobs plan that will put America working again. If you get Americans working again, you can pay for these social programs. If you don’t’ then the real need for these social programs is going to increase even as they break the bank.
Its not free. There is a continuing monthly premium that is deducted from each person’s SS check.
That's what recipients opt to pay for parts B and/or D. People like myself who don't get them don't pay anything for our Medicare Part A. The amount doesn't cover the complete costs of those programs, and is not part of what Medicare was was designed to cover. Those two programs belong in the private sector where the cost of the insurance pays for this elected coverage.
I looked at what Part B covers, and for me and a lot of others, it's a ripoff.
WEll everyone has an opinion of what Insurance should be like but for my entire lifetime its been the law that Medicare is mandatorily deducted from the payroll. It is what it is. It ticks me off to hear people talking like seniors expect a free ride when they paid all their lives for SS and Medicare whether they wanted to or not. If you don’t take Part B and D then thats your business.
Personally I think all insurance should be private insurance even in retirement. But its not. So at this point for $105 per month Medicare Advantage offers pertty good coverage.
But that’s just it. You’re Medicare Advantage for $105 is not part of what you paid into Medicare for, and it doesn’t cover the costs. Why not just let you and others keep the $105 and use it to buy private insurance for Medicare parts B and D?
