Nicklas Backstrom, the Swedish Caps player who was not permitted to play in the gold medal game yesterday bc he was taking a cold med that showed up in a urine test and disqualified him from playing, was feeling poorly too. hope your son feels better.
everyone is sick! hope he feels better too.
Other players called him out for taking a med everyone knew was on the list. Some said they would have to break their own arm to miss playing for the gold.
So it is a strategic move because they might not otherwise get drafted..... interesting.

speaking of CONTROVERSY, did you happen to see Jim the Boehemian get tossed out of the Duke game? of course, xshub could not watch live. So i dragged him, though he also has a cold and isn’t feeling well, to the movies again. We saw Monuments Men. It was ok, it diverted his attention long enough to get out and then see the headline news about him being ejected over the controversial call. We each had a bunch of texts and emails about it, as we exited the theater. I am just glad i managed to haul him to the movies. Some friends invited us over for dinner, and even though they promised that the tv would not be on, he knew he had to be somewhere with his phone off so as to not get texts or be tempted to follow on twitter, so we did dinner and a movie. More date nights in the past month than in the previous six! LOL!
and he has taken this med without incident for the past 7.
We were all comiserating with xshub though - I had already told everyone that he couldn't watch in real time and was at a movie.
officials should do everything in their power not to make themselves a determiniative part of the game. I thought i understood that there was some new rule change? i’m not totally clear on what the issue was, but i know xshub would have given Boeheim a run for his money on the fit throwing, had he seen it live.
My husband was partially watching - talking or something and missed that it was a Technical against the coach. He said something about the player and I kept saying, “No, it was against the coach” - finally it connected in his brain (lots of family in the room and various conversations going on so he should be excused for not hearing/seeing/getting it all at first! lol) - So we were all pretty stunned at the whole ending. I was so sad for your husband -
It must be quite an accomplishment to be able to understand (and even tell) jokes in another language. Our Columbian (first year) priest is getting good at it. His English has progressed to the point that the congregation laughs right on beat when he includes a joke in his homilies. A year ago, everybody used to just sit there with blank looks on their faces. We all love Fr. Blanco.

He didn’t expect them to win down at Cameron, and from what he said he felt like they played like crap on Sat PM, so that it was even close at the end is pretty miraculous. All he wants is the #1 seed in the East for the NCAA, hopefully that is still within reach. he is supposed to go to the SU-Maryland game tonight bc some friend of his here has tix and badgered him into going. but xsbaby gets out of class at 10 tonight and he will have an excuse to leave early bc he has to retrieve her.
You are right, of course, about the spelling of Colombia, the country. My mind was focussed upon whether to call him Fr. Blanco, or Fr. Yamid (which is what we all call him — pronounced Ja-meed).
Yamid is his first name? yes, Colombians pronounce Ys with a bit of a J sound. One can hear this in any Shakira song in spanish. YO which is first person singular pronoun, sounds like JOE.
Yes. We had to be taught how to say it. I wondered if his mother had been Lebanese, or something. but, I’m assured that they are 100% Spanish-American and Yamid is a proper Colombian name. In any case, he has fit right in this Germanic/Scandinavian community.
