SANTA BARBARA (CBSLA.com) — School officials are asking students to be extra-vigilant after a 19-year-0ld was beaten and gang raped.
The victim told police she was attacked by several men between the campus and Isla Vista after 11 p.m. Saturday.
Isla Vista is a neighborhood adjacent to the campus where many students live.
The victim is working with law enforcement to identify her attackers. They were only identified as Asian.
“Right now, what we have to go on is that the suspects are described as Asian males. Obviously this is a lot for the victim to go through, so we are working with her to try and get a better description and to find who did this,” said Kelly Hoover of the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Dept.
Another woman, an 18-year-old student, also said she was sexually assaulted Saturday morning in Isla Vista in the 6500 block of Del Playa.
Three suspects — including a juvenile — have reportedly been arrested in that attack.

I was surprised to see that some neighborhoods in Santa Barbara - near downtown - are pretty raunchy.
Not very descriptive. In these PC times that could mean Oriental or Middle Eastern. I'm betting the latter.

Asian is too broad a category to be useful. It refers to a continent with many countries and cultures. It unfairly puts a Chinese person in the same category as a Pakistani.
White, conservative Christian males, I’m sure. Probably lacrosse players.
In the British press Muslims are euphemistically labeled as southwest Asians. Those from India or close by are south Asians.
I think in this case Asian = Not Black and Not Hispanic.

Right. To those of us who pay attention, we know what it likely means slam. To those who don’t pay attention or for some reason still trust the msm, ‘Asian’ mean Oriental.
