It might be the happiest place on earth, but your wallet won't be feeling any happier after splashing out even more to 'experience the magic' of Disney. The cost of going to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World just got more expensive. Although Disney won't specify the reasons behind the increase, the Florida parks are home to the company's new high-tech wristband-based ticketing and ride reservation system, called MyMagic+ which cost the company $1.5 billion.

.........................................................

Disney World has raised the one-day ticket price to the Magic Kingdom by $4 so that it now costs $99 before taxes for visitors over age 9.

Or better yet, what would George Washington do if he came back?

That brings back memories from the 50s and 60s.

It is expensive, but worth it to see the kids light up. My daughter was in Heaven seeing all the characters. She was 4 the last time we went in Fall 2013. For a family of 6, plan on spending a few dollars.

Um... Universal Studios just down the road charges $120 for a 1-day ticket.

I just found my 4-day pass from 1992. The total for the four days is $118. I only used two of the days. The pass says it can be used anytime. I wonder, can I still use it?

I grew up and still live 2 hrs from DW. Haven’t been in 30 years. IMO you haven’t missed much, all the stories about long lines at the attractions and being expensive are true. I’d rather take a cruise or see the Grand canyon etc.......... Just sayin.

If they come, you will raise the prices.

Interesting piece of art.

I went to http://www.westegg.com/inflation/ and put in $19 and the year 1970. It turns out the inflation-adjusted price in 2012 was $110.81 - for a two-day pass. Not knowing what a similar admission costs now, inflation is a b!+ch.

Believe it or not, yes, you can! It would have to be converted to a modern ticket at a customer service center, but you're still entitled to whatever is left on it.

Whooo Hoo!

Hope this will keep out the riff-raff.

Our annual passes are only $400 and we get our money’s worth out of them. With the discounts on food and other things, it actually cost even less.

The first time I went, a ticket book was $4.00. I still have a few tickets.

This is one Disney Addict that loves the MyMagic+

It works great for us and makes life so much easier.

Anyone who goes to WDW for President’s Day is insane anyway.

We go in February, May, September and EARLY December.

We don’t wait for anything.

The ones who are grousing about the Fastpass replacement are those who invested a lot of time learning how to game the old system. Diehards, perhaps, but a minority overall.

Yes, it is still good.

Call Disney if you want real confirmation.

Last December, we were getting 3 Fastpasses at a time by gaming the system, but, they shut the loophole.

It was fun, but, not really necessary.

My only complaint about the MyMagic+ bands is that I can’t get one with Mr. Incredible on it...yet.

I was the human model that they used to design him you know. :)

Yeah, I knew how to do it, too, but with the new system, I like the idea that (barring equipment breakdown) that I’m essentially guaranteed the ability to do the “must do” attractions regardless of crowds. Besides, we’re looking at early December for our next trip, and those are really light crowd days, so I’m told.

The parks must be very crowded.

If demand is so high, prices can be raised.

If demand is low, prices must be lowered.

For private companies this is good.

Probably 12 or 13. I do remember we were there over a holiday weekend so it cost a little more.

Then prices have gone up a bunch!

Still not anything close to the most expensive place on earth.
