Adam Driver is ready to travel to a galaxy far, far, away.
Sources tell Variety that while no deal is done yet, the Girls actor is close to signing on to play the villain in J.J. Abrams Star Wars: Episode VII. Exact details are unknown, but the character is said to be in the vein of iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader.
Driver, 30, is the first cast member to be revealed for Walt Disney Studios and Lucasfilms highly-anticipated Star Wars installment, which will open in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.

Hopefully this one wont be nearly as awful as the last four.
Huh? This guy is supposed to scare us?
Well, if they can fit a Vader mask over his ears, maybe.
Star Wars VII- “Return of the Prairie Fairy”
as long as he keeps his mask on, the movie will be rated PG-13.
His new movie name should be Dorkth Vader.
Oh great...Jar Jar Binks is coming back.
Not all villains have to be imposing. Some dorky looking people are evil incarnate.
Looking at him he could be Jacen Solo (Darth Cadeus)
That was a bit of an unkind thing to say. What the Hell did he ever do to you?
Nothing. I retract it and apologize. I don’t know what got into me.
Isn't that the guy that's being cast to play Jar Jar Binks?
ILM digital magic and prosthetics can work wonders.
If memory serves, the bad guy in the book after "Return of the Jedi" (Volume VII???) is physically unimposing, with blue-green skin. "Grand Admiral Thrawn" was his name.
Who knows what Disney will do to the franchise, though. IIRC, a couple of characters in the final trilogy were interesting, but the stories were pretty bad. We will see what Disney bases the next movies on.
He scares me! No make up required.
I don’t know about Star Wars, but if they ever remake Mayberry RFD he’d make a perfect Barney Fife. :)
I tried to watch an episode. It is a self-centered, insipid, narcissistic piece of drivel.
You are not missing a thing by not watching and from just seeing the two episodes I did view the person in this article will ensure I do not go see the final three Star Wars films, which is a shame as I was a young man in the Air force when the original movie came out and I loved it.
Nah, Ian still looks a bit menacing, even in that photo. It’s in the eyes.
Not as much as Lena Dunham, but she was already committed to another project.
Given that it's Star Wars, though, I'd be surprised if they showed his actual face without heavy make-up or a large helmet or something else over it.
Why did you have to bring up Dunham? Now I have this image of her in a Princess Leia get-up. Thanks a lot!
That awkward moment when a well-loved movie series irreversably jumps the bantha.
Isn’t that Pajama Boy ?
