NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two suspects have been charged in connection with stealing hundreds of items from area Redbox locations.
Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said 31-year-old Chiteka Thompson and 27-year-old Jonah Phillips have been charged with one count of felony theft.
Police said the suspects allegedly collaborated in a scheme to obtain the DVDs and CDs over a period from at least November 2012 through July 2013.

Most of the Redbox movies aren’t worth stealing.
Jonah Phillips, 27 and Chiteka Thompson, 31, each face one count of felony theft after police said they stole about $38,000 in Redbox property over an eight-month period.
Detectives used surveillance video from area retailers and transaction records from pawn shops to identify the couple as the suspects involved.
Thompson was jailed in Nashville on a $100,000 bond, while Phillips was jailed in Williamson County on an unrelated matter, police said.

Seems like a LOT of effort on the part of the thieves, with a very low return to investment potential.
Oh, well. Nobody said that criminals are smart.
