That was a GREAT TV series (though animated), I was lucky to have seen it. What a marvelous time that was to be alive; America seemed so full of promise.

Hmmmmm . . . . . With newer lighter and more powerful jet engines coupled with the latest avionics it may be time to revisit this idea.

I would think the RC model guys are doing this with ducted fans, gyros, GPS, Hero cam etc.

The WASP had an engine similar to one used in their cruise missiles. As for avionics, it didn't have much range, such just a Garmin or TomTom off the shelf GPS would be find.

Smaller more efficient engines = more range. Plus more power means the ability to tilt further forward with more speed and even more range. Of course I wouldn’t want to ride one in the rain or cold. But flying like a bird would be a major HOOT.
