I’ve seen several of those too. I usually hit the “Report abuse” button and alert the mods. Maybe they cab shed some light on this subject.

Another site I chat on (sports related) uses upvotes and downvotes, and each user has a running point total. You get a point for every post you make, upvoting others costs you nothing, downvoting others costs you one point.
Point totals show longevity and frequency of posting, but the negbangs also help the board moderate itself. The truly abusive are hit pretty hard...they tend to leave or adjust their tone a bit.

I personally can’t post stories from heraldnet.com. I just have to deal with it. Last week was a terrific article about a huge food stamp fraud bust in downtown Everett. Freepers would have wanted to read it. I did post it to Twitter. Search “A-1 Smoke and Grocery Everett WA”

I’ve noticed that if a thread gets moved from one forum to another, then you get the top of the first page when you try to post a reply. Just scroll down to the message to which you were replying and try again.

That only happens when someone has comment #1 yanked by the Mods. That usually happens because someone tried to skirt the “must excerpt” rules by posting material beyond the required excerpt in post #1.

Right - that too but people usually write their opinions on a post anyway.
