In order to become a US citizen, immigrants must pass the Naturalization Test. American citizenship bestows the right to vote, improves the likelihood of family members living in other countries to come and live in the US, gives eligibility for federal jobs, and can be a way to demonstrate loyalty to the US.

Applicants must get 6 answers out of 10 in an oral exam to pass the test. According to US Citizenship and Immigration services, 92 percent of applicants pass this test.

You must get 58 or more of these test questions correct in order to pass.

Don’t have to...I was born here.

Unlike our current President.

Pretty simple. I’m sure they have a study book. I’d say this is geared to a sixth grader.

I agree with the article’s title, “Could you pass?” Not do you KNOW the answer to the questions. Multiple choice (guess) quizzes are notorious for not assessing knowledge, but merely recall. Most NBCs can pass THIS test, but that doesn’t mean they could get the right answer if the questions were asked with no answer choices.

Same here - direct documented line to an English ship captain who settled in Virgina in 1588.

Mis-clicked on two of them. Messed up James Madison and John Adams, couldn’t remember who was President during WWI

Got a 97% without trying. The ones I missed had to with the numbers of things like how many amendments are there.

Missed when you have to register for Selective Service (I guessed 16, assuming it worked like Israel)

I’m a sabra Israeli, FWIW.

I got an 89 percent. I got a few wrongs that had “all of the above”. I hate those. Always have.

Let me put it this way, although I received an 89, I would have done much worse had it not been for the incredible education you get on Free Republic. This site is better than any education I have ever had.

98 out of 100.

I was blitzing through and mis-clicked on the number of Supreme Court justices, and then I wasn’t sure if the Constitution was written in 1787 or 1789…..

This is WAY too easy. I want questions on WHY the country was formed the way it was!

Friend of mine just got his citizenship last year and while at work he was tossing questions at me from the study book.

Didn’t miss a one but I can guarantee you most American’s couldn’t answer them.

I’m not special either I just like to read alot.

Birth right citizenship is a luxury we can longer afford. Everyone should have to pass this test to gain their citizenship born here or not. It would certainly cut most of the illiterate, low information types from the voter rolls and jury pools.
