Religion and politics are perfectly OK here, but to discuss meatballs at FR, you could be striding into very dangerous territory.

For my wife, who has Celiac and watches her weight carefully...these are a Godsend. And they are super yummy with linguine and Alfredo sauce.

I once had Indian meatballs made of lamb with an almond in the middle and a yogurt mint sauce. Different, but very tasty.

Probably have to go with the Italian style here. And yes on pasta.

My aunt made the best spaghetti & meatballs in the world. What a letdown when I was stationed in Naples to discover that meatballs are not native Italian. Moved on to Bolognese sauce. Will try original “Godfather spaghetti al Clemenza” soon.

Texture was firm. I don’t think they used any bread crumbs, just meat.

The sauce sounds interesting. Did you have this at a restaurant or in someone’s home?

Someone’s home a long time ago. I think the sauce was just plain yogurt simmered for a few minutes with fresh chopped up mint.

I make mine with equal parts ground beef and pork - along with breadcrumbs, ricotta, eggs and parmesan cheese. Bake in oven, simmer in home made sauce, make meatball sandwich.
Wash it down with an RC Cola and a moonpie for dessert. Oh, baby.

Spotted owl makes a tasty base for meatballs. Mix with bread crumbs or crackers and season with paprika, basil, a dash of thyme and sea salt and pepper. Bake low and slow on a cookie sheet with a bay leaf under each meatball, turning once after about 9 minutes.

They must be made of meat. Hence the “meat”balls term.
All the rest of pork-balls, chicken-balls, turkey-balls, lamb-balls.
I could go on and on....

I found a good Italian meatball online and have been eating nothing but spaghetti and meatballs for the last week and a half. So tasty. It actually calls for some ground veal but I haven’t been able to find any locally so I’ve done 50/50 pork and beef. Crumbs, garlic, parsley, Romano cheese, eggs, and interestingly about a cup of water. I’ve been panfrying them in about a cup of oil but might give baking a shot. Now I just need to figure out making my own sauce.
