Voices concerns about DNA experimentation

Oh my ... Josef Mengele, the infamous doctor of Auschwitz, is still alive.

It now seems that scientists are exploring the possibility of having three DNAs joined to create a 'perfect' baby.

That would mean we take two parents created by God and add the DNA of another to create a human baby as if that is God's planned creation. It is not!

What perturbs me more than anything is that these same advocates have no objection to doctors destroying the already forming life in the womb through abortions. Is not the value of an existing life more important than a substitution as might well be performed by those who mimic Josef Mengele, an evil man who studied the same area of eugenics in university and then went on to practice under the flag of Nazism?

I would ask any couple who might have been informed that there was a possibility of their genetic issue meaning their future child might be born with an anomaly examine instead the beauty of adoption. And in effect that is what they would be doing secondarily by accepting another woman's DNA would it not?

A human is born with a soul, given by God to the embryo at the time of conception. Might someone advise me on how a soul might be divided when God did not grant the life of that baby but to his chosen mother and father? This sickness goes further in that a life in the womb is taken as if of no real worth and extends it to the fallacy that a life has no other societal value but to be eligible for euthanasia. How welcome such a society might have been to the likes of Josef Mengele, Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood and their cohorts?

Life was created by God to live, not to be constructed at the convenience of another.

We still only have an inkling of how our genetic material functions to create life, and yet we have the hubris to think that we can “improve” on it. I don’t foresee this working out as well as scientists hope.

Actually I see nothing wrong with a loving couple wanting to make sure that the child they conceive is not afflicted with a known genetic defect. The subject process is not aborting a fertilized egg and it is not “messing” with the father and mother’s own nuclear DNA to create a “designer” baby. It is simply insuring that the egg used contains healthy mitochondria instead of genetically defective mitochondria.

I will not condemn parents who dream of having their own genetic children and preventing those children from being conceived with a known genetic defect.

I find it hard to believe that somewhere in the world this isn't already going on full tilt.

This is a socialist's (Soros) dream!

Why do you think socialists would dream of this?

Create a race of super humans, ala Hitler.

“You know what's wrong with scientific power?" Malcolm said.
“It’s a form of inherited wealth. And you know what assholes congenitally rich people are. It never fails."

Hammond said, "What is he talking about?”
Harding made a sign, indicating delirium. Malcolm cocked his eye.

“I will tell you what I am talking about," he said.
"Most kinds of power require a substantial sacrifice by whoever wants the power.
There is an apprenticeship, a discipline lasting many years.
Whatever kind of power you want. President of the company. Black belt in karate. Spiritual guru.
Whatever it is you seek, you have to put in the time, the practice, the effort.
You must give up a lot to get it. It has to be very important to you.
And once you have attained it, it’s your power. It can't be given away: it resides in you.
It is literally the result of your discipline.

Now what is interesting about this process is that,
by the time someone has acquired the ability to kill with his bare hands,
he has also matured to the point where he won't use it unwisely.
So that kind of power has a built-in control.
The discipline of getting the you so that you won't abuse it.

But scientific power is like inherited wealth: attained without discipline.

You read what others have done, and you take the next step.
You can do it very young. You can make progress very fast.
There is no discipline lasting many decades.
There is no mastery: old scientists are ignored.
There is no humility before nature.
There is only a get-rich-quick, make-a-name-for-yourself-fast philosophy.
Cheat, lie, falsify--it doesn't matter. Not to you, or to your colleagues.
No one will criticize you. No one has any standards.
They all trying to do the same thing: to do something big, and do it fast.”

“And because you can stand on the shoulders of giants, you can accomplish something quickly.
You don't even-know exactly what you have done, but already you have reported it; patented it, and sold it.”

“And the buyer will have even less discipline than you. The buyer simply purchases the power, like any commodity.
The buyer doesn’t even conceive that any discipline might be necessary.”

Hammond said, "Do you know what he is talking about?"
Ellie nodded.
“I haven't a clue”; Hammond said.

“I’ll make it simple.” Malcolm said.
"A karate master does not kill people with his bare hands. He does not lose his temper and kill his wife.
The person who kills is the person who has no discipline no restraint,
and who has purchased his power in the form of a Saturday night special.”

“And that is the kind of power that science fosters, and permits.
And that is why you think that to build a place like this is simple."

"It was simple," Hammond insisted.

'Then why did it go wrong?"

Actually, only two dna’s are joined.

Basically this is in vitro fertilization with the exception of using a healthy egg from a third person.

Why would an evil scientist go to the extra effort?

There was a horror science fiction book “Hunter” written by James Huggins some years back. It was basically a genetic experiment gone bad. It involved a creature unearthed from defrosted tundra whose DNA made it effectively immortal unless it was killed violently.

The DNA was bonded into a lab tech working for a NSA type agency who experimented on himself. He achieved the virtual immortality but at a terrible cost. No conscience, damn near impossible to kill, and super predator.

Yeah, it confuses a lot of people.

The mitochondria in the ovum has a smidgen of DNA but it is not interacting directly with the 2 parents DNA.

MY PROBLEM WITH ANY SCIENTIFIC PROCREATION IS THE INDIVIDUALS OR GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS PLAYING GOD

CHAPTER ONE CATECHISM

“YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND”

I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them.

My thought was that once the door was open to manipulating DNA, it allows much, much more in the way of tinkering with the DNA of either or both egg and sperm.

Why would an evil scientist go to the extra effort?

Why would a scientist go to the extra effort of selecting specific DNA traits? Why to build a bigger, stronger, dare I say it ... a more superior Aryan child.

They aren’t manipulating the DNA.

If you wanted to manipulate the DNA, you would start a massive government program to encourage abortion among undesirables and we know that would never happen.

If you wanted to manipulate DNA you'd get a billionaire who wants to create good little super soldier followers.

Do it all in a third world country with no oversight.

Do it for decades until your 'Brown Shirts" were spread inside governments worldwide.

Maybe even with help from the UN or WHO.
