On Sunday, the San Jose 408K Race to the Row happened.  And if you've ever run a race, you've experienced regular people of all walks of life cheering you on.  I once had a dude hand me a slice of pizza while I was running the Chicago marathon.  True story.

Anywho, a 95-year-old World War II veteran named Joe Bell came out - decked out in full uniform - to cheer the runners on.  As it turns out, HE became the main attraction on that strip of road, and the runners started flocking to him...thanking him, one after another, for his service.

That happened to me on a lesser scale during a Veterans’ Day parade in a small Nevada town. The only military gear I wore was a ball cap with my boat’s name on it, and as some Army unit marched by, the Lieut. unexpectedly came over, shook my hand, and thanked me for my service. I choked up and could barely say “No sir, thank YOU!”

Maybe there’s hope for the younger generation yet - long as we can keep them off the libtard plantation.
