Chipotle Warns It Might Stop Serving Guacamole If Global Warming Gets Worse

Chipotle, Inc., is warning it might stop serving guacamole at its restaurants if global warming climate change gets much worse. Think Progress reported:

It’s your choice, America. Fix the climate, or the guac gets it.

Chipotle Inc. is warning investors that extreme weather events “associated with global climate change” might eventually affect the availability of some of its ingredients. If availability is limited, prices will rise — and Chipotle isn’t sure it’s willing to pay.

“Increasing weather volatility or other long-term changes in global weather patterns, including any changes associated with global climate change, could have a significant impact on the price or availability of some of our ingredients,” the popular chain, whose Sofritas vegan tofu dish recently went national, said in its annual report released last month. “In the event of cost increases with respect to one or more of our raw ingredients we may choose to temporarily suspend serving menu items, such as guacamole or one or more of our salsas, rather than paying the increased cost for the ingredients.”

Chipotle did say that it recognizes the pain it (and its devotees) would have to go through if it decided to suspend a menu item. “Any such changes to our available menu may negatively impact our restaurant traffic and comparable restaurant sales, and could also have an adverse impact on our brand,” the filing read.

According to the latest RSS satellite record there has been no global warming in 17 years.

Chipotle can go the way of the buggy whip. All they serve is corn bread tortillas and rice (all carbs).

if global warming climate change gets much worse

If it doesn't get worse pretty soon, I'm going to run out of dry firewood.

And how do Ethanol subsidies and mandates impact the cost of the corn they use, again?

Dear Restaurants Everywhere,
Sell your food and spare us your political opinions on pseudo-religious cults (example: “global warming”).

With love,
Moi

“Morons on parade.”

I wish there was some way to grade how much exposure and impact items like this have. People post articles from obscure venues that may have zero traffic on FR thus giving them a 200k member exposure. Some items, like this, are patently absurd. Yet, something like Apple’s statement does have impact. (If I owned Apple stock, I’d have taken their advice and sold it.)

It’s TEOTWAKI if Chipotle can’t serve guacamole.

Getting a proper perspective on things is apparently something we’ve lost as a society and culture.

We’re just a bunch of chicken little’s anymore.

I could never understand the appeal of the guaca-whatta stuff...

It ain’t mole. Got no chocolate.

Ugly plant.
Ugly fruit.

Fit for desert rodents. That’s about it!

Couldn’t care less. I’ve never set foot into that illegal alien-hiring restaurant. Apparently they’re thinking they can make some kind of oddball social statement with this.

I've never been to Chipotle but watched a documentary on the company. The owner is light in the loafers, as are most of his executives. With the demand for Christians to violate their beliefs and provide services to gay ‘weddings’, I won't be patronizing any Chipotle Grills.

It seems global warming has ignored North America the last few years. NBC mentioned a few days ago that this winter is one of the coldest on record.
