Chipotle Warns It Might Stop Serving Guacamole If Global Warming Gets Worse

Chipotle, Inc., is warning it might stop serving guacamole at its restaurants if global warming climate change gets much worse. Think Progress reported:

It’s your choice, America. Fix the climate, or the guac gets it.

Chipotle Inc. is warning investors that extreme weather events “associated with global climate change” might eventually affect the availability of some of its ingredients. If availability is limited, prices will rise — and Chipotle isn’t sure it’s willing to pay.

“Increasing weather volatility or other long-term changes in global weather patterns, including any changes associated with global climate change, could have a significant impact on the price or availability of some of our ingredients,” the popular chain, whose Sofritas vegan tofu dish recently went national, said in its annual report released last month. “In the event of cost increases with respect to one or more of our raw ingredients we may choose to temporarily suspend serving menu items, such as guacamole or one or more of our salsas, rather than paying the increased cost for the ingredients.”

Chipotle did say that it recognizes the pain it (and its devotees) would have to go through if it decided to suspend a menu item. “Any such changes to our available menu may negatively impact our restaurant traffic and comparable restaurant sales, and could also have an adverse impact on our brand,” the filing read.

According to the latest RSS satellite record there has been no global warming in 17 years.

Chipotle?

I love guacamole, but I don't buy it from idiots like them. My wife makes it. She makes good enchiladas too. With real “Hatch Green Chili”. (smile)

I have no problem finding the ingredients. Avocados do vary in price like all commodities. The plants are like citrus plants and do not tolerate freezing weather.

All these idiots are doing is trying to get some free advertising. And the MSM is accommodating them.

Guacamole. A dish made from a fruit that basically grows wild all over Mexico and S. America. Avocado trees are all over down there. Work in MX all the time and have never seen a shortage,

Well, to each his own!

You are certainly welcome to my share!

I never got all atwitter over mexican food anyways.

I eat more of the European/Mediterranean diet - fish, olives, olive oils, pasta, lots of fresh green veggies, and of course a good red.

I think its same company as Micky D. Pretty good option in fast food. You can buy a beer. Good chips. Think Mexican Subway with beer.

Chipotle Mexican Grill

Third world food for a third word mind set.
They can serve all the tards they want, I’ll never
eat there. If they are too stupid to see a con a mile
away then they are too stupid to keep a kitchen clean.
Probably running disease ridden wetbacks in the kitchen
anyway.

McDonald's had invested heavily in Chipotle but IIRC, the owner bought the shares back before taking them Nationwide.

If we're causing the weather aberrations, I'm sure it's a really easy fix. How hard could it be to control the weather and make it just right so the socialists will finally be happy? If we had 15 years with no warming then maybe that would make the socialists happy! We just can't live without the guacamole!

Wait! Someone says we did have 15 years with no warming - strange that the socialists aren't happy...

Why are the socialists never happy... and why do they want to stop giving us guacamole?

Sorry, but “what-if” musings do not constitute scientific proof.

There are a lot of “what-if” scenarios in the scientific literature. There is little in the way of actual experimental/observational support of the hypothesis of human-caused global warming.

Climate changes, as it always has and always will. We will adapt, as we always have.

Getting a proper perspective on things is apparently something we’ve lost as a society and culture.

Everybody has a soapbox. No one has to work for exposure anymore. Post a 140 character witticism on a website, and millions of people are exposed.

It's not so much that the sky isn't falling, it's that so many Chicken Littles are capable of screaming that it is and so many people can hear them now. It's no longer the barnyard getting roused, it's the whole damn world.
