Will This Be the U.K.'s New Flag?

Long after the Empire's collapse, the Union Jack remains an internationally recognized symbol of Britain. But all that could change soon. Scotland, one of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom (along with England, Northern Ireland, and Wales), will hold a referendum on independence this September. If it succeeds, Britain's iconic flag may need a makeover.

The Flag Institute, the U.K.'s national flag charity and the largest membership-based vexillological organization in the world, recently polled its members and found that nearly 65 percent of respondents felt the Union Jack should be changed if Scotland becomes independent. And after the poll, the organization found itself flooded with suggested replacements for the flag.

The Unique Britain design is hideous, looks like the designer was looking through a caleidoscoop when he thought of that and makes one dizzy looking at it.

Any reason why they included American Indian Colors (Black, White, Red, and Yellow) into this design?

These colors represent the Four Directions and the Four major races of Mankind. FYI.

Red and White are from St. George’s Cross and St. Andrew’s Cross representing England and Ireland. The Black and Yellow is St. David’s Cross representing Wales. I did not even know Wales had its own Saint flag as the Red Dragon Flag is much more famous.

Looks like an optical illusion. Stare at it long enough and you’ll start thinking English food tastes good.

Black and yellow are from the flag of St. David, Wales' patron saint. Or else they love Pittsburgh sports teams.

That flag suggestion is a blinding prism, and looks to have been designed by M.C. Escher; Rejected by this Yank.

Unless there is some sort of Anglo-Belgium union we dont know about in the future to explain that mess, then it isnt remotely necessary to alter the current flag which doesn’t have to follow any legal union between England and Scotland in order to justify its current design continuing in the event Scotland loses its mind in September.

Even if that did happen, the historical ties (and shared monarchy) more than makes up for it as reason enough to remain unaltered.

Whomever made that thing should leave the vexillology to the professionals.

I think its to put to rest their old rhyme often said jokingly. ‘There ain’t no black in the union jack’, which was used to insult Pakistanis. The kaleidoscope flag is.... strange
