Meat and cheese may be as bad as smoking
USC ^ | March 4, 2014 | Suzanne Wu

That chicken wing you're eating could be as deadly as a cigarette. In a new study that tracked a large sample of adults for nearly two decades, researchers have found that eating a diet rich in animal proteins during middle age makes you four times more likely to die of cancer than someone with a low-protein diet -- a mortality risk factor comparable to smoking.

"There's a misconception that because we all eat, understanding nutrition is simple. But the question is not whether a certain diet allows you to do well for three days, but can it help you survive to be 100?" said corresponding author Valter Longo, Edna M. Jones Professor of Biogerontology at the USC Davis School of Gerontology and director of the USC Longevity Institute. Longo has a joint appointment at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.

Cancer.

The mortality rate of heart disease, emphysema, and a host of other diseases are much higher from smoking.

What about smoked meats and cheeses?? Are they okay? Perhaps it’s like multiplying negative numbers...

Cool. I just had 2 cheeseburgers, and am now having my after-lunch cigarette.

Everybody dies of something.

Don’t worry. I smoke pot. It’s the miracle drug. It counteracts all the negative effects of cigarettes and fast food.

Hopefully, all liberals not aborted by their mothers will opt for a vegetarian/vegan diet, smoke pot, run marathons to destroy their bodies, and become self absorbed narcissists.

One wonders exactly how they reconciled the potential for genetic and ethnic differences in many of their foreign test subjects/examples and correlated that with samples here in the US. Additionally, was the presence of any of the other government trumpeted known carcinogens factored into this study?

So - we now are to believe (per UCD) that MEAT and CHEESE are the “badforyous” de jour...it was only a few years ago they (collective government paid academia) was telling us that the French or the Italians (anybody but Americans, frankly) live so long because of all the CHEESE and wine they drink, or the goat meat, or chicken or whatever non American beef meat there is.

Dig down deep and you see it’s a NIA/NIH funded study. That tells me all I want to know.

“Meat and cheese may be as bad as smoking”

Pretty much lying propaganda by the anti-animal-protein crowd. The following sentence is a dead give away:

“They were also several times more likely to die of diabetes. “

SEVERAL times huh, as in, say multiple hundreds of percent greater? Pretty vague “conclusion” there. Not to mention all modern research shows that excess empty carbs and fructose are the cause of diabetes, and that protein and fat diets prevent and/or control existing diabetes.

Life's tough when everything you like is illegal, immoral or fattening!

No one lives forever. With that in mind, one of the perfect foods in my opinion is a juicy bacon cheeseburger. No condiments aside from salt and pepper (two more things that someone will tell me are bad for me).

I get plenty of meat and cheese in my diet. What the hell, maybe I don’t need to bother to quit smoking since I’m doomed anyway!
