Need help from classical music Freepers'
WeatherTech commercial ^ | 3/6/2014 | self

Posted on 03/06/2014 3:01:42 PM PST by sodpoodle

Ever since this dagnabbit commercial played at the superbowl I have been searching the web to find the name of this classical aria - like many other websleuths;_

It appears that one person has posted the same response, but I don't believe it is from Carmen's March of the Troubadours. Anyone have a clue????

There was one from Carmen but it was not the part you normally hear. But another section.
I have enjoyed listening to various parts on u tube. Good memories of being in a production in college
Just search for Carmen opera

Missed that one LOL!!!! And it clearly read: viens mallika- les liens en fleurs

Very surprising - I was thinking it had to be a better known composer and title.

Thanks for being my ears and eyes - sod.

I remember that melody.A few years back British Airways featured it in an ad that I,for some reason, saw frequently over a noteworthy period of time. It's truly beautiful.

We had mandatory classical music in school - and I had the same affection for it as Latin. (Same teacher).

I don’t regret my Elvis intoxication - so there!!!!!

However, with age comes a deeper appreciation of opera, orchestra and choral music.

Pop culture is such a misnomer.

I came of age in the 60's and listened to Top 40.Later,I started listening to albums of the great (and less famous) acts of the 60's...everything from Easy Listening to Hendrix and lots of stuff in between. However,I've been slowly developing an appreciation for certain classical/opera pieces.Cecilia Bartoli, for example. So now my music collection includes Hendrix, early Dylan *and* Rossini Heroines (Cecilia).

Definitely the Flower Duet... I once had it as my ring tone...freaked people out.

But, you missed the REALLY interesting part of that commercial. They use lasers to Custom map your car and build a floor mat JUST for YOU!

Amazing

Funny you should mention Elvis. Just today my hubby found some old stamps he had collected about 100 yrs ago. He has some 195? Elvis stamps. What do you reckon those are worth? About face value?
