A Target store at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre looks like the Eye of Sauron in 'Lord of the Rings'

Tower-like structures topped with Target Corp.'s iconic red logo have given a Target store in Gambrills high visibility, but some people think it looks suspiciously like an evil eyeball from “The Lord of the Rings” films.

In a popular Reddit post titled “I think Target is going to try to conquer Middle Earth,” a user posted a photo of the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre store in Gambrills comparing the architectural feature to the films' depiction of the Eye of Sauron. In the Lord of the Rings, the eye represents the dark lord Sauron and glows atop a tower next to a volcano known as Mount Doom.
