Anyone feel that earthquake?
The trembling ground ^ | 03/07/14 | Self

Posted on 03/07/2014 8:30:06 PM PST by Yaelle

Near Marina del Rey in Los Angeles just a few mins ago. 3.2.

Anyone else feel it?

Tried to get my sons away from the video gaming and into a doorway, but they couldn't be bothered.

Nothing here in North Orange County. A 3.2 earthquake is on the small side unless you are on top of it.

Doorways are outdated advice....

“During an earthquake you should head for the doorway.

Yup, felt it; just a tiny one. First thing I do, look to see if Mobil blew up; they are past due. Then check the Wilmington refinery go kaboom. Nope, nust be an earthquake.

***Earthquakes,mudslides,brush fires,droughts AND taxes? ***

I’ll stick with my tornado warnings and ice storms here in the Ozarks. Though I would rather be back in the Rockies w/o the tornadoes.

Now, with a delay, we felt it here in Reno. The slots started spitting out silver dollars and I got me some before casino security thugs arrived and started putting them in their own pockets. Woo, hoo!

Yup, felt it; just a tiny one.

Most of those 3-3.6 scale ones are roughly equivalent to a giant boulder falling a few inches and crashing into another. We used to have a waterbed, sometimes it would resonate with a little quake and make a clear bell-like note - you could only hear it if you were in the bed. One day there was a slightly larger quake nearby. The waterbed completely isolated us from the motion but it rang like a windup alarm clock. That quake rearranged the pictures on the wall.

Interestingly the 2003 quake at Paso Robles (180 miles distant, knocked down the clock tower) caused the waterbed to slosh around for a while and the blinds to swing, but it took a while for us to realize why.

For a 3.2 tremor? I wouldn't bother either.

Thanks. I have heard the crouch down beside a solid bed, that if the roof falls in, there will be breathing space next to an uncrushable mattress. Is that true, I wonder?

Pittsburgh PA is not affected. But since we are 10 years behind the rest of the country it may take time.

Kids just know they’re invulnerable. When my daughter was in her mid-teens we had a fire in our apartment building. I tried to rouse her but she kept saying “Just ten more minutes.” I finally had to drag her from bed.

A more recent one:
M 3.4 - 17km S of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California
Time: 2014-03-08 07:53:19 UTC-05:00
Location: 36.398°N 121.926°W
Depth: 3.6km

They had a M 5.0 - 237km SSW of Avalon, California on the 4th. A 5 will get your attention if you’re in the neighborhood. This came after a couple of weeks of relative quiet around the Pacific plate.
Things seem to be picking back up again, especially from the Philippines up through Japan. The Alutians and AK are always rumbling.

You might be interested in checking in on this “You Tube Prophet” who has called a number of big ones before they happened, including the Fukashima Tsunami, within a couple of days well in advance.

He’s got a system, and it seems pretty reliable.

I keep the USGS EQ map - updates every minute - on a tab on my browser and check it often.
Frequency and intensity have been ramping up over the past few years, and I wonder if it’s a “sign of the times”.

Matthew 24:7 ~ “...For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.”
