Connecticut halts plans to round up firearms after finding most cops in the state are on the list

Connecticut has been making news due to their hastily passed gun registration laws. According to some sources as few as 15% of gun owners have actually registered their firearms. News Blogs have been warning state officials are talking about mass confiscations of the unregistered firearms.

Plans for these confiscations hit a snag when a legislative intern dared to ask a question. “Who will be going door to door to take all the guns away?” asked the 21-year-old college senior.

Reportedly multiple people in the room in the most sarcastic voices they could muster said “the police”.

The unnamed intern then pointed at the list and said, “my dad’s name is on the list, and he is the police chief. I see three other names on this list of family members, all cops.”

I’ve been following this on FR for a few weeks. Strange, though, here in CT there is NOTHING in the newspapers or local radio about the situation...

Comments at the site indicate it's a spoof. Watch out for the "Department of Disinformation" to kick in to try to confuse and misdirect. If non-compliant gun owners think most of the LEO's are on their side, the might actually be blind-sided.

Never trust the government, and never let your guard down...

"Call the Cops This site is a satire of the current state of Law Enforcement, Fire Fighting and Emergency Medical work. Stories posted here are not real and you should not assume them to have any basis in any real fact. Heck we tend to leave in spelling and grammer errors just to prove we is not the professional media. "

The comments at the site imply it is satire and also there are varying opinions as to whether LEOs/active military are exempt from this law or not.

Americans can be lied to, swindled, cheated and disrespected ad infinitum until the TV tells them there’s a problem. Since TV is a tool of psychological warfare - good luck with waking up the sleep walking public.

Pretty sad when it’s hard to tell satire from truth.

Satire. Personally, I’ve never had much interest or inclination to knowingly read what tries to pass for satire nowadays.

To me, satire should be a mechanism to expose hypocrisy, deceit or other reprehensible behavior of government or other organizations/people. It is most effective when its use is in an open-minded society where truth matters.

This country is not that, period. We are hopelessly ideologically divided, and satire is pointless in my opinion. Moreover, most times the ‘satire’ is just a slight mutation of real fact, and when it is hidden (e.g., not overtly disclosed up front)it only becomes a tool of the left. We need facts and information that can be credibly used, not diversion.

Best thing is to do it the same way NYS did: "We know we're illegal under this law, too, but we won't enforce it against ourselves or our friends. Who's gonna stick up for your side, just because law and logic are on it?"

I did a google search and this is all over the net, but quotes only this one source. Let’s hope it’s true.

As a young manager a senior manager, in reference to an incredibly stupid rule the company had just made, said to me, “We have the power of position. That’s not much power. People do what we say out of respect and habit. So we should never give an order that we know will be flagrantly disobeyed. It damages our ability to give orders on anything and expect them to be followed.”

Now, government has more than the power of position. But if they use it, they automatically create a coercive police state and that generates serious resistance in terms of gunfire and bombs. Far better that everybody obeys out of respect and habit. That means they should only do things that people see the need for and cooperate willingly with. (Now, THAT’s government.)

Well, SWAMP, satire or not, those walking up to anyone’s door, to actually confiscate even certain types of guns better be coming with an entire detachment of State Police, and those who are on the list had better be just as organized, because if the Police pull it off, those citizens can know that the next step will take place and the next until there are no guns except in the hands of Law Enforcement, the Military, and Government, and the real tyranny can then take place at governments leisure.

I used to think, (got to stop thinking) State Government was the last bastion of defense, but they have been taking lessons from Washington DC for so long they too have forgotten that it is the people with individual rights that rule, not government. The state legislatures are just as dangerous to freedom and liberty, as Dee Cee is. There are precious few states where real freedom still has a chance against the combined forces of the Capitol in DC and your own State Capitol.

It’s a satire site, UNFORTUNATELY!

The Police were specifically exempted from the Connecticut law as I understand it.
