Richard Branson sides with Apple CEO against Climate Change Deniers
The Verge ^ | 3/10/14 | Jacob Kastrenakes

Inspired by Apple CEO Tim Cook, Virgin founder Richard Branson has taken to his blog to say that businesses should begin standing up against climate change deniers. "While Tim told sustainability skeptics to 'get out of our stock,'" Branson writes, "I would urge climate change deniers to get out of our way." Cook's statements came at a recent shareholders meeting, where he soundly shot down a proposal rooted in climate change denial that would have had Apple putting its bottom line above its interests in sustainability. Cook said that those who would prefer Apple do everything purely for profit simply shouldn't invest.

If they can come up with an efficient, less stinky, and cost effective means of energy use and production, fine. Just don’t assume it will make a hoots worth of difference to the climate, or that any other energy using nation will cooperate.

I suspect Cook is catching LOTS of flack internally and Branson is trying to help.

CEO’s who are/were NOT liked internally because of their non-work related opinions:
Craig Barrett - Intel
Larry Ellison - Oracle
Scott McNealy - Sun Microsystem
Philippe Kahn - Borland Software
Carly Fiorina - HP
John Scully - Apple

All these yahoo’s except Ellison have had their heads handed to them for NOT doing their job.
Cook is going to get it in within 3 years.

Cook has none of his hard-earned money “at risk”. Branson does. That gives him the right to be as foolish as he wants. But, he also heads a publicly traded company, and both should remember that if Jobs had not come back to Apple, it would still be in the crapper.
When his product pipeline dries out, what will that hireling do?

"If 97 percent of climate scientists agreeing that climate-warming trends over the past century are due to human activities isn’t compelling data, I don’t know what is."

Oh, the 97% figure again. Just so we're all on the same page, that 97% figure was determined by a pollster who asked 10,000 scientists the question, got 3,000 responses, then included only 77 respondents in the population. The 75 out of 77 who agreed became the 97%.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/larrybell/2012/07/17/that-scientific-global-warming-consensus-not/

So where did that famous “consensus” claim that “98% of all scientists believe in global warming” come from? It originated from an endlessly reported 2009 American Geophysical Union (AGU) survey consisting of an intentionally brief two-minute, two question online survey sent to 10,257 earth scientists by two researchers at the University of Illinois. Of the about 3.000 who responded, 82% answered “yes” to the second question, which like the first, most people I know would also have agreed with.

Then of those, only a small subset, just 77 who had been successful in getting more than half of their papers recently accepted by peer-reviewed climate science journals, were considered in their survey statistic. That “98% all scientists” referred to a laughably puny number of 75 of those 77 who answered “yes”.

“What percent of Soviets believed in Communism? Or at least those who went on record? There has been a blacklist of thought. Challenges from within the scientific community where silenced. This was in the leaked memos.”

Exactly.

“What percent of Soviets believed in Communism?”

I would hope everyone does, regardless of where you are. It exists.

Ideologically believed (and supported) it?

And there are hard left Communists in America who insist that REAL Communism has never been implemented.

I bet if Branson’s bottom line got seriously hurt, he would change his stance, but the problem is how to do that in the current environment and with too many governments in the hands of Socialists and Gaia worshipers.

Excellent summary about Apple. Apple users are for a large part a cult following.

We have a female in law, who in most issues is a conservative. She owns every Apple product and has the latest update on her I Phone, I Pad, and I Mac.

When you bring up your excellent points, her eyes glaze over and she acts like a brain washed liberal.

Rush Limbaugh apparently has the same problem when it comes to Apple computors.

Your excellent Apple summary, “So when Apple decided that it didn’t want to comply with EPA rules and moved their manufacturing to China, they were only concerned with what? Or when they thumbed their noses at minimum wage laws and hired Chinese workers at a fraction of the cost of an American worker they were just doing what? And how ‘bout when they shielded their billions in foreign banks to avoid taxes in the USA? All this at the same time that they were sending massive amounts of money to politicians who devised the very rules that they have so assiduously avoided. We have several vulgarities for people like that.”

The billionaires club is disappointed that the Global Warming/Climate Change scam has fallen through (thanks to mother nature not cooperating). They spent decades (since the 70s) whipping up the state of fear in soccer moms that we were all going to die if we did not hand over the industrial base to them based on pseudo-science (which they have funded) and corporate media (which they own).

This green push to hijack the industrial base was necessary for one reason: they needed an unsolvable world-wide problem to create a global tax base to fund a global government. These are the same guys that obsess over zero population growth and promote abortion 24/7. In their minds, we are all useless breathers taking up their precious resources. By the way, the number of billionaires is at an all time high (a few thousand). I guess this is what happens when they get bored and sit around wanting to “shape” the world because they have to much resources and time on their hands.

The history of science is that the consensus is wrong. Think about it, if the consensus was never wrong there would be no progress. The stupidest comment in the world is to claim that science is a popularity poll and the debate is over (i.e. Al Gore, a C student in college). Many times in history, a devoted individual who was ostracized by the scientific community was proven right in the end. Unfortunately, it often happens after they are long gone.

Hey Dick and Tim!!

Do you think you know more on this subject than Dr. Roy Spencer?

Dr. Roy is pretty clear that your “97% agree” citation IS PURE B.S.!

I use Apple products because I find them better and easier to use than other company’s offerings. Now, just exactly how would I be supporting a company that did NOT push leftist dogma by using Microsoft, Dell, HP or just about any other? Are any of Apple’s competitors NOT manufacturing in China, or supporting gay marriage, or pushing for gun control?
