A 60-year-old British man was cleared of an assault charge in the case of a fight between neighbors that began with an argument about throwing cat feces.
Chippenham Magistrates' Court in Wiltshire, England, heard Matthew Lucas, 38, confronted neighbor Douglas Pidgeon, 60, after finding cat droppings that appeared to have been thrown into his yard, the Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday.
Lucas said he was concerned his 5-year-old daughter could have touched the cat droppings and suffered ill effects.
Pidgeon told the court he threw the feces over the fence because he was tired of the Lucas' cat using his "garden as a lavatory."
"I went out to cut the grass and I scooped it up and lobbed it over the fence. I didn't think anything more about it," Pidgeon said. "I know it was their cat. I just threw it. That was it. I didn't really think about it to be honest. I agree the sensible thing to do would have been to go and speak to the owners. I have never spoken to them about it. It was not the appropriate thing to do, it was quite irrational. I didn't expect anyone to come around at all to be honest. I was quite shocked when he did come to my door."
The argument between the two men turned physical, and during the struggle Lucas' forehead collided with Pidgeon's nose, breaking the skin of the bridge.

It’s not just about cats, it’s dogs as well. Would it be ok for me to shoot your dog when it runs into my yard and is not threatening me?
Anyway, I don't get it why people think that it is okay to let their cats run. Maybe the owners think that they are denying their animal in some way.
When they becomes feral or mean they become more than just a nuisance and then they are no longer a pet. The cat is a wild animal like a coyote.
In the city, if a cat runs wild, its life expectancy is much much shorter. Lots of cat fights, cars, dogs,... It is a tough life — I saw someones cat wandering our neighborhood when it was below zero degrees the other day.
I wish. Believe it or not, I am a volunteer on a city committee along with a number of fellow professionals and a few aldermen. The politicos definitely lower the group’s average IQ. I am often invited by the mayor’s office to press conferences (mostly to act as background for Emanuel) but I always politely refuse. If they only knew what I thought of them.
Killing ferrel cats is legal and encouraged round these parts. Got a State Cop that lives next door that we compete with for most kills. Why don't you start your Crusade there? ;)

I understand what you are saying but let me try to explain a bit. Most that live in fly over country have been there our whole lives.
Generally two things happen that create dogs or cats that run. One is the idiot city dweller that got a kitten or puppy for their kid. They don’t have the brains to teach it anything so after a year or so of crapping on everything in their home they don’t have the guts to drop them off at Animal control so they drive to the country and throw it out of the vehicle.
The second are Idiot City Dwellers that transplant their arses into a 1 acre lot to get out of the City. But Just like California Liberal Transplants who destroy other places when they move, the city dwellers bring their attitudes with them. All that open country...You would not believe how many times I have heard transplants say “well, we moved to the country so our aminals could run free.” Um HELLO? There are both Leash laws for dogs and roaming laws for cats. It is ILLEGAL to let a cat roam. PERIOD. The reason is because they transmit desease and they Kill any small animal they can.
As to a dog loose in your yard. The Law round here says you can’t shoot a dog unless it is attempting to harass livestock. Which I have done. Yeah someone’s pet. To bad, after returning it repeatedly and warning them of the law, they continued to let them run...
Funny thing, the Idiots just go get another dog. If you catch it and take it to the pound even if it has a license they just charge 25 bucks to the owners and the next day they are back. Killing Chickens, chasing Farm Animals etc.

Guy I knew was having problems with his neighbor’s 20+ cats using his kids sand box as a litter box... kept chasing them, to no avail.... Owner would do nothing about the problem.
One can of tuna soaked in Prestone antifreeze solved the problem real quick...
Problem was that the cat’s owner did not eat it!!! He was beyond pissed though.
