Having been threatened with “physical action” by an unknown number of anonymous students if it did not respond to a list of more than 120 demands, the Dartmouth administration promptly surrendered last week and is planning on spending at least $31 million to satisfy the students’ will.
The initial student letter called for greater diversity in the faculty and post-doctoral program as well as an increase in enrollment for Black, Latino, and Native American students to 10 percent of the student population each. The anonymous students also demanded that all students be required to take classes on “social justice” and “marginalization,” that gender-neutral housing be available for all students, and that restrictions on the use of the term “illegal immigrants” be imposed.
The college, which has a $3.7 billion endowment, is planning to spend the $31 million blackmail on several programs:
Dartmouth plans to allocate $1 million to hire faculty “who bring diverse perspectives to campus.”

SMH Caving in to the unreasonable demands of immature spoiled brats in the sixties is what has this country in the mess it is in today.
What Dartmouth really needed to say to these little fools is “No. If you don’t like it, withdraw and go home.”

Wait a tic... those exact same demands were made at the University of Michigan just last month. Sounds like we have an organized conspiracy here.
I’m D class of ‘72, and I can attest the rot had already started in earnest by then. I was one of the far lefties on campus by the end of my sophomore year. It almost killed my dad, but I came around after b-school years later and working for a living.
I sometimes console myself by reflecting that the school is the alma mater of Dartmouth Review editors-in-chief Dinesh D’Souza, Laura Ingraham and Ben Hart (author of Poisoned Ivy,1984, the first book to identify the “political correctness” problem that infects academia.
Cowardice is a prerequisite for being a college administrator.
“students” do not come up with plans like theses. It is the college professors and union members pushing this as they get the money.
