Paternos want Big Ten to show what it knew about Freeh investigation, Penn State sanctions
Morning Call ^ | 3-14-14 | Peter Hall

Following the NCAA's imposition of sanctions, the Big Ten added its own punishment: Penn State is required to forfeit $13 million in revenue from conference bowl games during the four years the university is ineligible.

The suit claims that by accepting the Freeh Report, which has been widely criticized by Penn State supporters, the NCAA damaged Paterno's image, the future coaching prospects of Jay Paterno and William Kenny; prevented the university trustees from carrying out their duties; wiped out the achievements of student athletes and deprived faculty of resources.

In the court filings Friday, the plaintiffs ask the Big Ten and the Mayer Brown law firm to turn over documents that relate to communication between them and Freeh's law firm, the NCAA, Penn State and any other person or group relating to the investigation and consent decree.

Lawyers for the plaintiffs filed an amended lawsuit last month after a judge specially assigned to Centre County dismissed key parts of the case.

Because the group alleged a breach of the contract between Penn State and the NCAA when it imposed the sanctions, the suit could not proceed without Penn State as a defendant, Judge John B. Leete ruled.

The NCAA and Penn State must file responses to the suit by Monday.

Think I saw recently that one of the trustees who is now retiring has admitted he shouldn't have trusted the Freeh report and that he regrets voting for Joe Paterno’s ouster.

Too little too late.

The Freeh report was a raw data dump. There was ever any investigation.

If anyone really wants to know what Joe Paterno was all about - Jimmy Cefalo sums it up best. Cefalo was a great player at PSU and a great receiver for the Dolphins. He still does local sports in Miami and the color commentary for Dolphins radio.

Notice (in this video - which you have to turn up, because the volume is low) where he talks about insisting on not doing taped interviews about Joe's death. Only live interviews. Because Jimmy is smart, and knows the media from the inside, and what they can do with editing (and people's lives).

Up until this speech - at Joe's Memorial, I didn't think all that much of Jimmy. After it, I think a lot more. He explains Joe's legacy in a manner that will never be topped. It isn't about wins or mythical national championships. It never was. It was about so much more.

Cefalo at Joe's memorial

In your twisted media driven mind maybe. To the rest of us, Joe was much different. How’s it feel to be suckered by the media?

The truth is coming (and it’s a freight train of truth). When it does, we won’t hear a peep from the likes of you. Go about your hating and media malpractice worship. You are the one who is the lesser for it all. Certainly not Joe.

I know it’s a big conspiracy. They faked the emails that clearly show the administration and Joepa covering it up.

Why was Sandusky allowed on campus after Joe was informed of him having sex in the locker room shower with a little boy, by McQueary?

Why was McQueary given a job right after that, when JoePa initially said he didn’t have a job for him?

You Joepologists are the ones who are brainwashed. If this happened at Ohio St would you be so quick to defend them?

10 kids were raped and your hero covered it up. Deal with the shame and stop making asses of yourselves.

Child rape enabler? That Paterno?

Yes, that one. It's pathetic to watch these losers try to paper over what Paterno did. Read Paterno's own testimony. He knew that boy was sexually assaulted in the shower. Did he tell anyone right away? No. He "didn't want to interfere with their weekends." I wonder if that boy had a good weekend. Rot in hell Paterno. Don't let people forget his culpability.

You know nothing either. Victim #2 (the MM “victim”) walked into Joe Amendola’s office the day of JVP’s firing and claimed (as a 24 year old Marine) that he was the boy in the shower (14 at that time) and that nothing happened.

MM NEVER testified that there was any rape. There was never any (even remote) proof of any rape anywhere in this entire case. But you jackals keep believing what you want to believe.

Yeah - a man of Joe Paterno’s integrity was told of a RAPE of a child, and did nothing about it. Nice story. Zero proof - and it makes zero sense.

Joe was praised by the OAG for his cooperation and also Fina the lead prosecutor said on 60 minutes that he had no evidence that JVP was involved in any sort of cover up.

Keep believing the crap. As long as it makes you feel better.

OMG....Vicky Triponey? Seriously? She's been so discredited that she has no credited left! She's a freaking joke and a proven liar.

Here is her "timeline of terror" - she wreaked on the students at Penn State - long before you even knew who js was:

link here

She also was "tight" with Mark Emmert while at Uconn (hmmm). She is a joke and only CNN (and you) took her seriously. What does that tell you?

Vicky is a disgraced leftist moron fascist who was fired from PSU by leftist Graham Spanier because he and the students had finally had enough.

Hitch your wagon to that pig. Good luck.

John Lithgow in Garp was more appealing.

I just posted a worthless, obscure link, like you did. The only difference is, I didn’t waste my time watching your cult’s propaganda.

Paterno, by his own words, admits that he didn’t go to the cops. Frank Fina lied. Most likely because he didn’t want to appear biased in his prosecution of Sandusky.

Remember him? The guy who raped children for over ten years on Penn State’s campus, at bowl games, in his house? Yeah but it’s all about Joe Paterno.

If you want to comment on this case, learn something about this case.

I suggest [Ziegler]

and Ray Blehar for starters. There are many more places to find actual information - other than media headlines.

He reiterated that McQueary was unclear with him about the nature of what he saw—and added that even if McQueary had been more graphic, he’s not sure he would have comprehended it.

“You know, he didn’t want to get specific,” Paterno said. “And to be frank with you I don’t know that it would have done any good, because I never heard of, of, rape and a man.”

Credible...

From Paterno's own Grand Jury testimony:

Transcript: Joe Paterno’s Grand Jury Testimony

Q: Without getting into any graphic detail, what did Mr. McQueary tell you he had seen and where?

Mr. Paterno: Well, he had seen a person, an older — not an older, but a mature person who was fondling, whatever you might call it — I’m not sure what the term would be — a young boy.

Q: Did he identify who that older person was?

Mr. Paterno: Yes, a man by the name of Jerry Sandusky who had been one of our coaches, was not at the time.

(snip)

Q: I think you used the term fondling. Is that the term that you used?

Mr. Paterno: Well, I don’t know what you would call it. Obviously, he was doing something with the youngster.

It was a sexual nature. I’m not sure exactly what it was.

I didn’t push Mike to describe exactly what it was because he was very upset. Obviously, I was in a little bit of a dilemma since Mr. Sandusky was not working for me anymore.

So I told — I didn’t go any further than that except I knew Mike was upset and I knew some kind of inappropriate action was being taken by Jerry Sandusky with a youngster.

Q: Did Mike McQueary tell you where he had seen this inappropriate conduct take place?

Mr. Paterno: In the shower.

(snip)

Q: Did you tell Mike McQueary at that time what you were going to do with that information that he had provided to you?

Mr. Paterno: I don’t know whether I was specific or not. I did tell Mike, Mike, you did what was right; you told me.

Even though Jerry does not work for the football staff any longer, I would refer his concerns to the right people.

Q: You recall this taking place on a Saturday morning, the conversation with Mike?

Mr. Paterno: Yes.

Q: When did you — did you do something with that information?

Mr. Paterno: Well, I can’t be precise.

I ordinarily would have called people right away, but it was a Saturday morning and I didn’t want to interfere with their weekends.

So I don’t know whether I did it Saturday or did it early the next week.

I’m not sure when, but I did it within the week.

Q: To whom or with whom did you share the information that McQueary had given you?

Mr. Paterno: I talked to my immediate boss, our athletic director.

Q: What is that person’s name?

Mr. Paterno: Tim Curley.

Q: How did you contact Mr. Curley?

Mr. Paterno: I believe I did it by phone. As I recall, I called him and I said, hey, we got a problem, and I explained the problem to him.

Q: Was the information that you passed along substantially the same information that Mr. McQueary had given you?

Mr. Paterno: Yes.

Q: Other than the incident that Mike McQueary reported to you, do you know in any way, through rumor, direct knowledge or any other fashion, of any other inappropriate sexual conduct by Jerry Sandusky with young boys?

Mr. Paterno: I do not know of anything else that Jerry would be involved in of that nature, no. I do not know of it.

You did mention — I think you said something about a rumor. It may have been discussed in my presence, something else about somebody.

I don’t know.

I don’t remember, and I could not honestly say I heard a rumor.

Q: You indicated that your report was made directly to Tim Curley. Do you know of that report being made to anyone else that was a university official?

Mr. Paterno: No, because I figured that Tim would handle it appropriately.

I have a tremendous amount of confidence in Mr. Curley and I thought he would look into it and handle it appropriately.

Q: We have no further questions of you.

And Paterno then did nothing to follow up about what was going on in his locker room. NOTHING. He washed his hands of it and even admitted later that he should have done more.

Joe Paterno: ‘I Wish I Had Done More’

Nobody's buying your spin to try and rehabilitate this enabler.
