The father who police said fatally shot a 17-year-old boy in his daughter's bedroom should be charged with murder, the victim's distraught mother says.
Johran McCormick's mother said she can't believe her son was killed while sneaking around with the 16-year–old girl he was apparently dating, the Houston Chronicle reported Saturday.
Zakia McCormick also can't understand why the man accused of firing the fatal shot Thursday is not behind bars.

My wife and I had to loudly repeat the headline and article to understand what happened.
They raised him to be a good boy. Can’t understand why he was in the girls bedroom when he was supposed to be in New Orleans unchaperoned for spring break.

Moral....sneak into someone’s bedroom at night and there’s a risk of being shot. Duhhhhh.....
The stupid thing is that the daughter said she didn’t know who the boy was. So the dad was led to believe that an intruder was raping his daughter, so he fired.
You should not break into a man’s house in the middle of the night and then get into bed with his daughter while he’s sleeping under the same roof. When you do that, you risk being shot and killed as an intruder and a rapist.
Just thinking this.. if the girl was the one who said she didn’t know the boy and that denial lead to his shooting.. shouldn’t the girl be charged?
Dad reportedly called the police first. Boy made a move/threat afterwards.
The daughter’s denial may make her liable for some kind of charge but the father appears to have legally shot an “intruder” who was “unknown” to his daughter and who didn’t want to be detained waiting for police to arrive.
I don’t think she can be charged with anything, but she certainly deserves most of the blame (that and her idiot former paramour).
BTW, does anyone know the racial makeup here? The kid that was shot was black. But how about the father and daughter? Black, white?

If you’re a 17 year old black teen, and an armed father finds you in his daughter’s bedroom at 2am, it would be prudent to put your hands in the air and make no move which could conceivably be interpreted as threatening.

The daughter should be charged for something. The boy was shot only because she lied.
Race doesn’t matter here. Boyfriend got in bed with girlfriend. Father walks in on them. Daughter says its a intruder. Boyfriend gets dressed and father mistakes him as searching for a weapon. Father kills intruder/boyfriend.
