RICHLAND COUNTY (SC) — Investigators are looking for a tattooed-woman and three suspects after several men were beaten and one was fatally shot over the weekend.

The incident occurred on Saturday at 1606 Fairlamb Avenue in Columbia.

At about 2 a.m., according to a release from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, a female identifying herself as “Mariah” approached several men at Latino’s Bar and Grill on Old Percival, soliciting for sex. She is described as a light-skinned female (possibly black or Hispanic) with a tattoo on her upper chest, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-11, weighing150 pounds and between 18 and 22 years old.

Three men left the bar with her, and investigators believe they were followed home by three and three additional suspects. When they arrived at the home, two of the victims were severely beaten and robbed, and a third was shot and killed.

The suspects are believed to have been driving a light in color vehicle — possibly grey, beige or tan. The three men are described as: a heavy-set black male in his 30s; a young, thin black male with long braids; and a thin, shorter black male with short hair.

I grew up not far from here. Back in the 1960s and 70s this was a bedroom community for Fort Jackson. Lot of active duty and retired military lived in this area.

This is the 4th murder in the area that I am aware of in the past year. Drove through in broad daylight the other day. It is now very scuzzy.

The last time was down in the heart of SC saw several meth addicts in broad daylight. Was approached later while pumping gasoline. Had to ask the guy that approached me, politely, to back off ... next they sent a girl and had to ask politely again. Didn’t stop anywhere on the way back through. SC has changed tremendously in many areas and has become a little more than dangerous. I currently buy gasoline away from the heart of SC, when traveling through.

Went to HS in Dentsville (early 60’s), just a little outside of Columbia. The whole area use to be a great place to live. Guess not so much anymore. :-(

I went to Dent when it was repurposed as a Junior High! Early ‘70s.

light-skinned female (possibly black or Hispanic)

This seems to be a media theme: White Hispanics are dangerous!

Don't like going into setups. Too many people with firearms for my comfort level, these days, and sometimes those with the supposedly friendly firearms aren't so friendly. I've been lucky a few times and attempt to spot trouble on the streets before it arrives in front of me and mostly I avoid the streets when possible. But have found that in SC (in many parts not only Columbia) trouble will find one even though one is being vigilant. Many parts of the SE are not what they were when I cut my teeth. Was approached today, near my neighborhood. The guy was kidding but at first I was a bit unsure. Like I said, I do not like trouble that comes at me for then I might be forced to make a decision. My family (not me in particular) has been involved in LE since my Grandfather. Although my Grandfather was not a LE officer my Grandfather once had to take a stand. His stand was with LE after the Chief of Police was murdered. My Uncle was LE. My Son-in-Law was LE. Friends and Cousins are or are formerly LE. Things are a whole lot different than they were back in my Dad's and Uncle's day. None of us has ever had to shoot anyone. I pray everyday that it stays that way. To take another's life is not something I would want to do but to protect myself or my family I would attempt to do if given no choice. Taking someone's life is the most difficult choice of all to make even when one's life is being threatened (imho) but so far have, like I said, been lucky and have not had to make that decision. Thank God but I do watch myself in many parts of the SE that once I did not worry when traveling through.

That’s a rather large and heavy tattoo. Seems to me she’d have trouble walking upright with it.
