On Wednesdays episode of Wheel of Fortune, a contestant named Emil surprised everyone when he somehow guessed the Bonus Puzzle knowing just two letters. After a total of zero of his guessed letters showed up on the board, Emil had to take a shot in the dark.

Not too much of a surprise. If you watch Wheel enough, the bonus puzzles usually make use of more uncommon letters, like B,G,Z,J,K,Q,X, etc.
The guy obviously watches a lot.

Its possible. A mathematician might be able to narrow down the odds but someone good with letters might not have any problem with it.
After all several letters had already been removed as possibles which narrows it down considerably in a language with only 26 letters.
