Liberal Democrats and the Republican establishment have disliked Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) mainly because of his staunch fiscal conservatism and his association with the Tea Party. Now, they may be colluding to try to oust him from his House seat by manipulating California's "jungle primary" system in which the top-two finishers advance to the general election regardless of party affiliation.

My Rep. -—one of the few conservatives in California!
Lord help us. The CA GOPe wants to get rid of one of the few well spoken conservatives from CA. This is about as safe a seat as there is in CA. McClintock should be given a medal for warning he gave as a state legislative member the state was setting itself up for massive trouble when it jacked up the public pensions during the height of the previous stock/real estate bubble.
Thanks for posting this.
McClintock does not deserve this.
This is different than a primary battle. No one can claim this is equivalent to Tea Party trying to defeat incumbents in the primary.
This Is a strategy to make the general election between two Republican candidates.
The idea is to split the vote among Republicans with the liberal Republican then garnering most of the Democrat vote, without a Democrat in the race.
Prince Rebus, hipster king, needs to address this to correct it or to make clear he and California GOP and RNC support this.
I expect the dems to help GOP whenever the R is “threatened” by a TEA Party candidate.

The GOPe tells us we should spend our energy fighting Democrats, not fighting other Republicans. Yet, they have no misgivings about spending their resources fighting Tea Party Republicans!
Good guy. Too bad he was elected governor.
Good guy. Too bad he wasN’T elected governor.
This would be a huge loss for the GOP and certainly for conservatives ... I'm going to provide as much financial and GOTV support to him as I possibly can.
Placer County -- like nearly all areas of California away from the "coastal strip" -- is strongly conservative but the base is being steadily eroded by the growing populations of Sacramento, Davis and other isolated "liberal enclaves" that hold the bulk of the population. Check the most recent California county electoral map avaialable on the Web.
I knew what you meant.
I voted for him and was not fooled by Arnold.
At the same time, I do think both Arnold and McClintock should have deferred to Issa who was the person who made the recall happen.
Double standards galore in the GOPe.
And no where more than California is the failure of the GOPe more pronounced.
I am in El Dorado county and not a fan of Mcclintock but I will stand with him against the GOP-e.. Bastards!
