Why are good things seen as bad, and why are bad things seen as good? Greg Gutfeld poses the question and supplies an answer in Not Cool: The Hipster Elite and Their War On You (Crown Forum).
Gutfeld paints a picture of a coolocracy in which the world is run by star-bellied Sneetches who tell us whats hip and we obediently keep running in and out of the belly-star-making gizmo.
Icons of cool like Robert Redford, Mark Zuckerberg, Jesse James and Yoko Ono get shredded in the book, which is as breezy, enlightening and funny as Gutfelds two TV shows, The Five and Red Eye.

Gutfeld is funny.
He’s got some good analysis here. And even if you think back to high school, the cool people weren’t necessarily the smart people. In fact, there’s more often than not an inverse correlation. And anyone can tell most of these cool pop culture icons are dumb as fenceposts.
Another variation on “the radical chic”.
Hipsters are not “cool”. Pathetic is the word he should have used.
We are drowning ourselves with liberal pop culture, now put on steroids with the advent of the internet. It’s slow poison driving this country to the grave as we suck up this crap and let it anesthetize us into complete social and moral anarchy.
Personalization is a weapon. It’s easy to defeat if you understand it.

The only reason that liberals get away with using “cool” as a weapon is the following imo. As a consequence of parents not making sure that their children are being taught the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers, patriots don’t know how to argue specific constitutional clauses when corrupt federal politicians make promises based on constitutionally nonexistant federal government powers.
That’s why as crude as it is, I love South Park and Team America...it totally shreds the notions that liberals are “cool.”
Robert Redford was once cool, maybe Jesse James, too. But neither has been cool in a long time. Zuckerberg was never cool, and Yoko Ono is the anti-cool. She is so un-cool she destroyed John Lennon’s coolness.
Absolutely right. Who else is willing to show how ridiculous people who happen to have the talent to act in movies are when they try to act like they’re experts in field they can scarcely pronounce the names of?
Chapman’s only mistake was not shooting Yoko when he had the chance.
There is nothing “cool” about Yoko Ono..
That summerizes it completely.
You’re right - he’s insightful...
The Devil was rebellious and look where him and his followers are right now. Lucifer was looked at as cool.
