Bracken: When The Music Stops – How America’s Cities May Explode In Violence (EBT SHTF scenario)

From Matt Bracken:

In response to recent articles in mainstream military journals discussing the use of the U.S. Army to quell insurrections on American soil, I offer an alternate vision of the future. Instead of a small town in the South as the flash point, picture instead a score of U.S. cities in the thrall of riots greater than those experienced in Los Angeles in 1965 (Watts), multiple cities in 1968 (MLK assassination), and Los Angeles again in 1992 (Rodney King). New Yorkers can imagine the 1977 blackout looting or the 1991 Crown Heights disturbance. (snip) What if a cascading economic crisis, even a temporary one, leads to millions of EBT (electronic benefit transfer) cards flashing nothing but ERROR? This could also be the result of deliberate sabotage by hackers, or other technical system failures. (snip)

That was a thrilling read. Thank-you for posting it. I only wish we had such well-trained former soldiers in my neighborhood. I would volunteer to watch their pets when they were out of town to forge a stronger relationship with them, so if this time comes, I could ask them for the favor of forming the pre-emergent riot breakers squad.

***New Yorkers can imagine the 1977 blackout looting****

And yet, 12 years before this there was another blackout of NY. There was no looting or increase in crime.

So what happened in those 12 years?

If it crashes, the first thing that will happen is that the EBT card holders will get a LOT of more free stuff.

There, fixed it ;) And, I agree.

***“Some of those trapped in their cars will try to drive out of the area, inevitably knocking down MUY pedestrians and being trapped by even more outraged MUYs.***

Which is why, in 1968, I sold my singe action six shot pistol and bought a 13 shot Browning Hi-Power.

I moved to central KY in 2011 because, in no small part, I think we are ever closer to SHTF, but this article is over the top. As just one example, I use the author’s comparison of Reginald Denny to the situation in this future event. Denny’s fault was the same as the US Gov’s fault in 9/11: He didn’t know what the stakes were. If the scenario in this story happens, by the time people are commuting to “what few jobs are left”, the world is already no longer the world we live in. And the poor are now weak with hunger, getting weaker by the day. And the average person is armed.

To put it bluntly, the gridlock the author describes will be full of those more akin to the Korean Shop owners than Reginald Denny.

***50+million Zombies looking to take what you have.***

Dang! Must buy more 7.62 150 gr at 2800 fps. Wonder if that will stop a zombie?

Scene from ZULU DAWN ZOMBIE:

Soldier 1: This is the ticket! .577! Smash em out against the bones!

Soldier 2: The Bloody bullets run out! The Zombies don’t!

AFDC (Aid to Families with Dependent Children aka single mothers) and Food Stamps were just starting in the mid 60s, so not very many parasite irresponsible ferals yet. The explosion in bastardy happened right after AFDC/FS.

That’s one reason, probably also the continuing slide into cultural immorality and depravity. Not really separate; a lot of related causes.

One thing I find worth considering: Those blue vehicles are not purchased with the idea of coming up against “preppers and gun nuts”. Rather, they can be used effectively against the “ebt mobs”.

Wouldn’t it be hilarious if, were the S to HTF as described in this article, these vehicles were used to do OUR bidding?

I read a report recently that said a full 70% of the federal budget is spent on checks to individuals. The primary function of the gov has become the distributor of tax dollars to favored recipients, some of whom are employees and retirees.

Picked up another 1000 rds (556s) today just in case. Keep my gas supply full to run the generators and to cover the pond to ward away any who try entry from that direction.

Where do you buy those tee shirts that say:

The hard part about the coming zombie apocalypse is pretending I'm not excited!

Or words to that effect.
