Skip to comments.EXCLUSIVE emails: J.J. Redick badgered girlfriend after abortion, used racial slurs

In July 2013 MediaTakeOut.com broke the story that basketball star J.J. Redick had initiated an abortion contract with then girlfriend Vanessa Lopez to abort their baby.
The contract stated the couple would attempt to maintain a social and/or dating relationship for one year after the abortion, and if Redick reneged he would pay Lopez $25,000.
Redick and Lopez signed the abortion contract the morning of her abortion, September 13, 2007. Lopez was never to see Redick again, but she never attempted to collect the $25,000.
Paparazzi discovered the abortion contract in court documents. Neither Redick nor Lopez had anything to do with its release.
But at the point the abortion contract was made public, Redick had two options, be a man and accept culpability, or be a weasel and deny it. Redick chose the path of the weasel.
There was no denying the signed abortion contract
so, farcically, Redick denied paternity. From his Twitter account
Imagine being Lopez. Having just endured humiliating worldwide exposure of what must have been the most painful experience of her life, she had to then endure Redick denying he was their babys father. He could only have dug the knife in deeper.
Lopez is now writing a cathartic tell-all book, releasing additional information about events leading up to and after an abortion she says was cruelly coerced by Redick and his handlers. On that point, Lopez gave me two emails as examples.
The first email came from Redicks account within hours after Lopez had her second trimester abortion already badgering her to prove she went through it, not giving her any space or peace to attempt to recover:

Oops, the dirty secret is out. Men, generally, dump the women that have the abortions they asked her for.
You don’t say.
she could have told him to eff off, and in this case i’d have said good for her. women have done so countless times to men for far less.
Just another reason(One of MANY) to root against the Clippers
I'm sorry but I strongly take exception to your blanket indictment, MEN don't ask their women to get abortions let alone dump them. The slime you are talking about are not MEN, I don't care how old they are chronologically.
In polls, the demographic that most approves of legalized abortion are males age 18-34 years old.
Coerced? She freely agreed to kill her baby in exchange for the benefits of being a pro athlete's main squeeze. Sorry but I don't see any good guys or victims in this story.
Who are these people and why would anyone care?
She was pressured into an abortion. If abortions were harder to get then men would have a harder time pressuring women into getting them. I suspect that most women who have abortions did so out of love for their man and not because they wanted it. This is the dirty little secret that feminists deny.
You missed the dead baby. He's the victim in this story.
major oversight on my part.
“Who are these people and why would anyone care?”
Who are these people you ask? Oh some jock, his girl and the baby they legally murdered. By contract no less.
Why should we care? Well for the baby at the vary least.
I strongly take exception to your blanket indictment, MEN don't ask their women to get abortions let alone dump them.
You appear to have misinterpreted the meaning grammatically. The post did not imply that most men ask women to get abortions; it referred to the particular sub-set of men who do ask or coerce women to get abortions. The post went on to claim that most of that particular sub-set of men then dump the woman.
LA should kick this poor excuse for a human being out.
or what kind of man parts they have...
Its L.A..overrun with liberals, they love abortion here
i disagree... biologically, they are indeed men... are they virtuous men? no... are they men of good character? no... and this guy, Riddick, certainly bears no fruits of the Spirit...
I welcome fraternal correction in Christian charity when I make such mistakes.
That is how I read it.
1) How do we know that Ms. Lopez was indeed pregnant? The article provides no proof.
2) If the answer to #1 is that she was, how do we know it was Reddick’s? We don’t.
I’m guessing she was fishing for a pay-day.
What about the dead baby?
Well please don’t take this in the wrong way, but you can take that biologically sexist comment and place it in a deep dark hole!
J.J. the Weasel is just what Duke needed to shine their rep, as things have been rather quiet since the lacrosse scandal gave cause to the The Gang of 88 Faculty Jackasses --- other than the Faux Thesis of the co-ed in 2010, and the current co-ed paying the exorbitant tuition by making porn flix.
The Gang of 88 made me angrier than the original accuser did.
She was pure trash but the faculty was supposedly educated. It was awful the way they treated those young men.
it was sexist in that it pertained to the sex of the human species... that basketball player is a man in two ways... he is an adult male... and he is of mankind... in the second aspect, it does not matter what sex he is... humans are "man." just as transgenders and transsexuals claim to be of a different sex than the one in which they were born, DNA says something else... manhood is a stage that males reach at a certain age--when they are adults... it has nothing to do with their actions...
adjectives come in handy when the desire to differentiate rears its head...
Funny! I believe we both know that I was speaking of a mindset, of being men in thoughts and deed not in biological, physical attributes, just as being a Mother is more than the physical ability to squeeze a baby out of an orifice. Thank you for the philosophical ride down the rabbit hole but it changes the obvious intent of my comment not a whit.
If I was an agent to these young sports stars I would counsel them to store their sperm and then have them get vasectomies.
No baby mamas or sad abortion stories like this...
just adding my two cents... :)
